Yes, ASAP is an adoption program, they have people foster and adopt Standardbreds, some are retired off the track, some are young, and they rescue some too. It's a neat program. That's where we adopted both of our horses.

That's a good thing you were able to rescue some of the horses, Debbie. I agree, Standardbreds are great horses, but lots of people don't really recognize them except for being harness racing horses, and they are great to ride. I love to gallop my STB, and I do cantering more than trotting because her trot is so fast and bouncy! She doesn't have a slow trot! [

] She does have an injury that we think was related to the track, since she raced previously. Most of the time she's really good, I just have to make sure not to overdo it with her, like I can't ride her every day of the week or she gets sore. Otherwise, I can do pretty much anything with her.
