    I need rabbit help!

My rabbit, Thumper, is five years old.  Lately, I've noticed he has been wet when I go to check on him and feed him, etc.  I think it's from his water bottle, but now he is making a weird noise, kind of like a sneezing noise and it seems to be continuous.  I don't know what to do.  I don't know if it's serious.  Could it be hiccups?  Why is he wetting his face, is he too hot?  We have a ceiling fan in there.  I just don't know a lot about rabbits...he is a pet my fiance and I inherited when his mom passed away.  Any help would be appreciated![&o]

Sounds like he has snuffles and that requires him seeing a Rabbit vet or vet that normally deals with rabbits.  Make sure it is a vet that has experience with rabbits that is extremely important.  Snuffles is treated with antibiotics.  You need to get him there very soon.  If it isn't treated, and it is snuffles  it is likely he will die from it.   Good luck to you and your rabbit.  Keep me posted.
This will give you some information on Snuffles.

No problem, just keep rabbit cool and quiet in this heat.  Best of luck and let me know how he is.

I'm pretty sure that rabbits (and other rodents) are prone to respitory infections. It could be from not having a clean enough cage, getting wet too often, letting ammonia build up in the cage, etc. I agree that you should go to a vet.

Its true rabbits can get sick from reasons listed above. But they can just get sick like all other animals too. Usually most vets will see rabbits. I had a rabbit with the same problem last year. She survived with some antibiotics. But this is a sign that your rabbit does need to be seen. Good luck.

Thanks everyone!  We just got back from the vet.  She said it looked like he has a cold and she gave me some antibiotics to give him 2x a day for ten days.  If he doesn't get any better in the next 48 hours I am to take him back.  Hopefully, he will be ok.  Thanks again!

    Rabbits aren't rodents, they're lagomorphs[;)]

Rabbits do NEED probiotics. They have quite sensitive little GI tracts and can become gravely ill from their gut flora being off. Something like BeneBac is generally reccomended, given AWAY from the antibiotics.

Thanks.  Could these be found at a regular Petco or Petsmart?
