You can report these guys, Glenda. I have been on the Do Not Call registry for several years and have had NO spam calls since signing up.

Can't your phone service change your phone number for you?  I would get harrassing calls and my phone company changed my number free of charge. We get the occational seller that will call, but my husband will speak french and they hang up. I've also done this and it works. But in your case, I'm sure you don't want to play games with these people anymore.

Before the do not call registry came out, I used to use one of those air horn and blow it into the phone. After that I didn't get as many calls. Once the do not call registry came out, I never got any  more sales calls.

Our phone no. is only one digit away from the number of a huge apartment complex in town - inhabited mainly by UCD students.  Every year starting around the end of July or early August I start getting calls asking "Do you have any storage space available?" I just say "I wish" and give 'em the right number.  By now, I have it memorized.[:)]

Before we moved, we were getting multiple daily phone calls from Bellsouth! BELLSOUTH! They'd start calling around 6-7 am and wouldn't stop until night time. For a while, we couldn't catch anyone on the line, and the number showed up as a regular phone number from some state. When we finally caught someone on the line, who was calling on behalf of Bellsouth, I told them to never call again, but that didn't work, of course. So I called Bellsouth's 800 number and told them I wanted the number blocked, and they ended up taking my number off of their call list. After that, I never received another call from them, but now that I've moved and have a new phone number, I noticed some NJ number calls frequently. I've never been home when they call, but I'm wondering if it's Bellsouth again.

Also, if you are getting a bunch of nuisance calls, and it from a new number the phone company gave you, they will generally give you a new number for free if you call them and tell them your problem. I've had to do that before.

The phone company should offer to change your number for free due to the mis-print in the phone book (or old print) for the bank. That's a valid reason they should accept.

The problem you have is that you have an existing relationship with the business in question, so their calls are exempt from the Do Not Call List provisions.
Per the Federal Trade Commission's website:
"The do not call provisions do not cover calls from political organizations, charities, telephone surveyors, or companies with which a consumer has an existing business relationship."

I don't have much to add except a story or two

My mom was getting some sales calls from telemarketers......she just turned the table on them and tried to sell them something (generally her house as it was currently for sale anyway). Every time they would explain a feature she would counter with something great about the house (never the address)

When we were little she would put us kids on the phone (the calls were usually while she was making dinner and that was when my brother and I had to read aloud out of a bible story book). Mom would just hand us the phone and have us continue reading and ignore the caller.....they eventually hung up.

Now I only have a cell phone, and I have it set so that if a call comes through with a restriced number it doesn't even ring (I had to take that off since my dog ran away cuz I need to answer all calls) but it was good while it lasted.

Good luck, you could always just tell them that their account is in the negative...wouldn't help much but would probably make them have a crappy day too since they are ruining yours.

I wonder if the BBB could help you.
