    Crate Obsessed Baby??

I have a 5 monh old Rough Collie and an almost 1 year old baby. My Collie is crated at night and whenever I let her out in the mornings or to put her in at night my baby will struggle with me to let him in the crate! He loves being in there, and any chance he has to sneak in there he will! Just yesterday I went to take Lizzie out to her enclosure (I wouldnt call it a yard) and I was gone for two seconds and when I look into the room, no baby! Well he had laid down inside the crate and when he say me he crawled to the back and refused to come out.

Anyone have any ideas on why hes so obsessed?

I don't really know, but they are both beautiful!

I'd guess it seems to him like it's to his scale, so why not.  And he probably feels safe in the enclosed space, just like a pup does.  Kids like to crawl into boxes, closets, chests, etc. Just that same spirit of exploration.  Plus he sees Lizzie in there, so why not?

I don't have any answers for you but I just love that picture!

It's as if he's saying, what Mama? I'm just hanging out!

Cute!  However, I would like to caution you that a necklace on a little one in a crate could be a choking hazard.  No chains on when in crate (human or canine puppies!)!![:D]

LOL, thanks guys! I dont really have a problem with him being in there (not enough to get another crate) its just that he gets dog hair all over him, and anytime Lizzie goes into her crate he will make a dive after her and Lizzie looks at me like 'hey i thought this was my crate?'

I have no idea, but our youngest loved being in Mick's crate.  He was almost 3 when we adotped Mick.  I used to find the 2 of them in there snuggling all the time.  Mick didn't mind, so I wasn't worried.

I don't know, but my 11 month old is fixated on leashes, collars, and dog beds.  And she does get pretty hairy playing there!  However, even though Cousteau doesn't seem to mind, or at least tolerates, invasions on his dog bed I don't let her do it.  The dog isn't allowed in her bed - that's "her" space alone - so she has to give him his own space.  Having a curious baby following you around can be stressful whether your human or canine!  I just tell her "Nope, that's puppy's bed.  Let's play over here." and if she doesn't come over by me (which is usually), I'll get her and instantly find something fun to do.
