• forpaws Posted : 6/7/2006 6:21:33 AM I agree any person who abuses an animal should get more than just a year in jail.   The United States Humane Society is working on legislation to amend this to bring it up to stiffer penalties to include not only social work but to be imprisioned for each and every blow they inflict on a helpless animal. So if this guys repeatedly punched and kicked this poor baby say 58 times, then his sentence will be 58 years in prison and that is what I think should happen. Although, I feel this is too kind for not only him but any human that inflicts pain on an animal should suffer the same as the animal did.   If a person would do this to get back at a loved, alledgedly loved one, they will do it to a child or the elderly in a heart beat.   I really thank all of you who have taken the time to sign this petition. I've noticed it in newspaper ads too......I think it would kind of turn me off to those, if they can't even spell their breeds name right! Or is it the newspaper people that spell it Shepard?
