Morning, afternoon, evening sickness!

    Morning, afternoon, evening sickness!

I have yet to experience "morning sickness". Until now. With both of my daughters, I didn't get sick one bit. But this one's different. I can't take it!!

Right now my head is spinning in circles. The thought of food/drink makes it worse. No matter how I sit, nothing is comfortable. (I'm at work, so laying down isn't an option)

Anyone know of any tricks to help? My sister said she just threw up, and it went away for a bit. Sorry, but I hate throwing up, and I'm trying to avoid it.

Currently 8 weeks along (so the doctor says). I find out on Friday exactly how far along. Oh, and how long does this last?!

I've never been pregnant myself but my best friends have both been.

The morning sickness last only the first 2-3 months and then I believe that goes away.

Have you eaten at all today, I thought I'd heard one of them say something about having a few crackers so something like that??  What about tea??

I'm sure the other mom's will be along soon for more help.

CONGRATULATIONS TOO BY THE WAY---maybe this one's a boy since your sick now and weren't before!!

    Congrats for sure!

See what a romp in the hay will get ya instead of a glass of O.J........... LOL

It varies from one lady to the next on the morning sickness part. Usually first trimester then the last quarter of pregnancy gets you in a tither.

Saltines or pretzles help with the nausia, don't eat them right away, suck on em for a bit them chew em up slowly.

Nothing like being miserable when you cannot do anything about it. It will get better as you go along.

Thank you. I will be getting some crackers this evening.

A lot of people have been telling me it's a boy because of the sickness. My sister was very sick with her son, then she got pregnant with her daughter, and didn't get sick at all.

I hope it's a boy! This is our last try.

Congratulations!  I lived on  ginger snaps and ginger ale while pregnant with my son.  I also ate crackers.  You need to get up slowly in the morning and maybe try some dry toast or saltines.  For me with 2 of my 3 kids it lasted 4-5 months, UGH!  Hang in there your body will tell you what it wants to eat or not eat very shortly.  Keep us posted!  I also put ginger in alot of the food I cooked while pregnant![:D]

I didn't get it bad but here's what helped me:

Suck on a starlite mint or other peppermint candy...peppermint helps settle the stomach

Drink small sips of chammomile tea or peppermint tea, same thing

Eat very small things very frequently, every hour or two eat a cracker or snarf a cookie.

Damp cool rags on the back of my neck always helped...as did deep concerntrated breathing.

Avoid strong odors like B.O. cooking meat, etc esp organic odors.

Chew some tums....preggy women can do with the calcium...I ate them like candy and actually grew to love the chalky texture [:)]

BTW prenatal vitamins are NOTORIOUS for causing nausea big time. In fact with my second baby I did not take them at ALL until late in pregnancy...I just drank extra orage juice and did tums to get my Folic and my Calicum. I was SO much better after I stopped taking them. I also went full term and had a 9+lbs baby boy vaginally afterwards so it didn't harm him a lick either!

IF you want to keep taking them...tell your doctor you think they are causing you issues and they can prescribe some special ones that supposedly DON'T cause it as badly.

    Congratulations!

I was sick for six months with both my pregnancies.  With my first I was sick all day, too and didn't gain much weight which greatly concerned my doctor.

My older daughter was three when I was pregnant with my second.  I couldn't even set foot in the kitchen before noon.  She made herself breakfast every day- cookies and a banana.

I hope your morning sickness is short and you feel better soon!

I didn't see a doctor until I was 4 months along with Heather. That was six years ago though. She was very healthy. No vitamins, just lots of other foods.

Kelly on the other hand, I went to the doctors right away. I took the vitamins without a problem. Never sick.

It's really hitting me this time. I'm going to make a trip to the store and see what I can get to help while I'm here at work. At least at home the couch is only feet away. Sleeping is easy when you're spinning in circles.

I might drop off the prenatals for a bit. I have a bottle of women's vitamins that I was taking before I found out I was pregnant, didn't feel sick taking them, even though I was pregnant for a month and didn't know.

Congratulations!!  I think you are definately right about the vitamins.  If you were pregnant a month without sickness it would be my bet that the prenatal vitamins are most likely the cause.  I've never heard of morning sickness starting in the 2nd month.  Not in my case anyway.  I only gained 12 lbs.  with my daughter and my doctors worried to.  She was 7lbs. exactly and healthy as both her older bigger brothers.  Just take care of yourself eating good foods (when you can eat that is) and relax as much as possible.  Your body knows what it needs and you will crave the foods that provide that nurishment.  It will get better soon.

Ahhhh morning sickness.  The one thing I could do without in pregnancy.  I had it for 4.5 months and was afraid I'd have it for all 9, so I'm not complaining about the time I had.  (Much.  Ok, I whined a lot, but it's much better now!  The baby's 10 months...)

    Here's a lot of what I did:

-Drink everything at room temperature.  Cold drinks made my stomach churn.

-Switch to children's chewable vitamins (with Dr's ok).

-Eat constantly.  I divided my meals up into 9 or 10 meals.  Protein is important and it's supposed to help, so I'd eat a hard boiled egg, then some cheese, then some granola or cereal, then some nuts, etc.

-Fresh or flat Coke helps some people more than ginger ale.

-Lemon drops.  Mint make me gag, but the citrus helped a little.

-Drink lots of water, but flavor it if you need to.  I made weak Country Time lemonade.  Regular water made me hurl.  A friend of mine who's more of a purist would just squeeze juice from half a lemon or orange into her water.

-Add additional Vitamin B6.  My doctor had me take a B6 and 1/2 a Unisom up to 3 times a day and that actually was pretty helpful. Again, run it by your doctor first.  I could only take the Unisom at night, but it helped me wake up easier.

-If it sounds good to you, eat it.  I was convinced I was giving birth to an 8 year old boy for awhile because all I could eat was Spaghettios.  Yech!

-If you really need help, talk to your doctor about getting samples of Zofran.  It's an anti-nausea used for chemo patients, but it works well for pregos, too.  The only problem is that most insurance companies won't cover it unless the doctor gives them a really, really good reason.  I could get 6 at a time, which was 2 days worth and it was a $12 copay each time.  Each pill is $35.  The nurse at my clinic called and gave some sob story about me and suddenly I could get 90 pills - a month's worth - at one time.  I love that woman!

And with all of my morning sickness...I had a girl.

I was sooooo sick for my last one. I thought it would never end. I was sick day and night for 3 months. This is what I did:

Took prenatals before bed (made me sick if taken in the morning)

    CRACKERS!!!!!!

Diclectin pills. They are prescription and cost me $200 ( I don't have coverage)  but worth every penny.

My daughter in law is pregnant with their first child, and she was extremely nauseated the first trimester. Son said he thought he should buy stock in ginger ale company! LOL
Good luck with your pregnancy! When are you due?

They used to say to take crackers to bed with you at night and eat one or two before you even get up in the morning.    I felt aweful with my second son, I never really threw up,,but I felt like I would ALWAYS,,,for months. I get skinny as can be in that time...not a good thing.
But congratulations,, hope you feel better really soon!

I agree with the Diclectin.  It is the only prescription that is proven not to harm the fetus.  They even have a little pregnant lady on them!  They are expensive but are very much worth every penny.  If you have coverage all the better.  Mine would have cost me $132, but I am covered so it was free!!!  Also as soon as I got my prescription, the nausea kind of stopped.  I didn't get it until my 9th week, I think.  12 weeks now so I'm into my 2nd trimester shortly!
