Do Not Stick Things in Your Ears!!!

Just ask my son.  Today we spent 9 hours up at the hospital trying to get a bead out of his right ear that mysteriously found its way in there during some beadwork time at school this afternoon.  He finally had to go into the OR and be put right to sleep so they could get it out without him fighting them off.  What a day.  Angry

Sounds awful.  I'm glad it worked out okay.
I spent the night in the hospital because they couldn't stop the bleeding from a small surgical procedure i  had at 4pm in a dr's office.   I got home at 7 am, but didn't go to work, cuz i was still "leaking" a little.  My wife thought i lost gallons - but i think she was more concerned i would "leak" on the sheets or furniture.  I told her i'd sleep on the kitchen floor.[:D]  She wasn't amused.

To both of you - glad everythings okay!!!!!

How horrible for both of you.  I'm assuming you've stopped "leaking", Yankee??

huskymom, how scary for you.  How old is your boy?

Wow - I hope your son didn't do any major damage to his ear(drum)!  One of my stepkids shoved a pebble way up her nose when she was about 6.  They graduate from putting everything in their mouths only to try other orifices!  [sm=eek.gif]

Yanke, hope your leaking has stopped and that it's not too serious.  BTW, I appreciate your sense of humor even if your DW did not!

These are the days that great childhoods are built on.  I can remember sticking an earplug up my nose amd having it surgically removed.  Ahhh memories.

    Hope he's doing better now.

I remember when my son was about 3 I saw something in his ear from across the room. When I looked closer I saw a bunch of white stuff in his ear, it looked like a piece of popcorn. I took him to the med center and it turned out to be a boat load of tiny round packing beads that he had shoved in there one by one. The doctor said his own ear wax had tried to push them out and that's why it looked like popcorn. He had been at church with my mom the night before that and did it then, he never told me.. the poor kid.

Sadly Mic there are those amongst us who NEVER grow out of that stuff, and refuse to leave it behind in childhood. Case en point...the show Jacka**. lol..

I'm still on tenterhooks waiting for our first trip to the ER for something like this. But since we've already had a broken leg...maybe we get to pass this one on by?

I am glad everything turned out okay for your son, Candace, and I hope your nervess are nice and back to normal now [:)]

When we were little my sister but a little metal ball in her ear- she thought it would roll through her head and come out the other ear like in cartoons.  My father said it should have, as obviously she had no brain to get in the way!  She also put a pea up her nose during dinner one night.  She sneezed it out while my mother was on the phone with the doctor.

One time she and I painted one another with creosote.  My poor mother!

My middle son, Ashton, was playing with a hackysack and some beads came out through an opening in the seam.  For some reason he thought it would be a good idea to put them in his ear.  When we went to the ER on his ped's advice, they ended up being able to flush them out with water.  He didn't like them digging around in there but the water tickled so he tolerated that well.  They were able to get all of them out.

I feel for you Candace LMAO !  My DD when she was 2 decided it would be a good idea to stick a french fry up her nose into her sinus cavity almost (on a Friday after 6pm!!!).  She's crying and I'm crying -after panicking and trying to get her to blow it out (which didn't work cause she would suck it in to blow it out!) I called the dr's office (Thank God they are open till 7pm!)  I hurried and broke every traffic law to reach the doctors and then had to help 4 other people hold her down while the dr tried everything she knew to remove it (french fries soften and disintegrate in mucous!).   Dr said that was a first for her after 10 years in the business!  The next day I was so sore from holding her down I had to use ice packs and could barely move - of course DD was fine!

To add insult to injury - when insurance saw it was an accident they sent me an accident report to fill out - on the line asking for steps taken to ensure it does not occur in the future i wrote - I will only buy fries from Wendy's - they are bigger than McDonalds so they should not fit up her nose!

    Glad everyone is okay!

I am laughing out loud at everyone's stories (can you tell I'm not a mom yet?), but these two actually made me snort. [sm=rotfl.gif][sm=rotfl.gif]
