How is the water situation where you are?

its been raining non stop here for days[:'(]
and its not supose to stop raining until saturday[:@]
My basement was flooded yesterday, but we have one of those pump things so its fine now, but there will be more soon. The sun will come out for like 5 mintues, then go back in and it will start raining again, and it goes on like this all day.
If you don't like new england weather, just wait 5 minutes and it will change . . .

My back stone wall is now a beautiful waterfall, we're growing mold spores by the billions, rivers are overflowing, roads are washed out, sections of major highways are shut down, some cities are now little islands, shopping centers are flooded, lawns are now lakes - need I go on?

Thank heavens I live up on a big hill.  My sister and her family aren't so lucky - their's no way in or out for them right now and it's only getting worse.  Pray for sunshine, lot's of it and soon.

4 inches of rain in our basement.  We have a sump pump that's been running non-stop for days.  The alarm has been going off that its overflowing.  That sure is fun.  Borrowed a neighbors portable pump and the wet dry vac to attempt to drain it.  Works for about an hour before it all comes back.  Had to move the kitties litterbox upstairs because god forbid they get their precious tootsies wet in the few inches of rain.  I'm hoping the cats have not busted out of the room I set up for them with all thier amenities. And hoping even more that if they have the dog hasn't dined on kitty roca(bleh)....

My Mom is in MA, and her sump pump is into overtime, too, but I don't think she's in danger of flooding.  You wouldn't think there could be so much rain in the skies!

I just found out my company (an outdoors-minded group) will rent out kayaks to its employees.  I think that's what I'll use to get to work tomorrow!!

At least I can make it in, unlike others.  Co-workers have been evacuated from homes; rivers are overflowing infringing on roads, homes, train tracks, etc; roads shut down to all but emergency vehicles.  My parents/grandmother are landlocked for another day until this second storm passes.  The rain holds through the week, lets up to mild rain showers on Thurs (mind you - no stop, just a bit of relief).  Then right back to full rain Fri, Sat, etc.  I'm tired of it!

Just found out we broke the all time record for rainfall in May in NH.  ugh.  I'd almost take snow over this.  At least I could ski!  There's no way I'd brave the rapids of those once-streams turned raging rivers!  Stay safe, all!!

Stay safe & as dry as possible!!

I know there are other i-doggers who live in New England but only 2 names come to mind right now.  Has anyone heard from Anne or Mary?

Yes, I have been wondering about them also.   Please check in as you are able!

We have water in the basement too.  The pool was opened last Friday, and now it's overflowing.  The good thing is we had topsoil brought in and grass planted in the front yard and i haven't had to water[8|].

I feel for you all.  When I lived in Texas our place flash flooded a couple of times.  Its very scary.  I know how helpless you all feel.  Hope it stops raining soon (I haven't watched the news lately- I hope it has stopped already).

I was born and raised in CT, and my mother is still there.  I talked with her Sunday night after seeing the incredible pictures on the news here in Oregon.  My mother hasn't been directly affected (she lives in an apartment without a basement, high on a hill), but her friends have had some issues in homes and on roads.

We had a flood here back in 1996 - I had to walk thru a few inches of water to get to the door of my office.  I also remember the manhole covers "bouncing" on top of the water bubbling out of the sewer lines.  Several friends had to evacuate their homes and pile valuables onto second floors, etc.  It was a pretty scary time.

I hope things dry up soon out there.  Take care everyone!

I actually saw the sun for a minute or 2 today!!!! Thankfully my house is on a hill so we didn't get a drop of water in the cellar. My grass is very green and needs a good mowing.

I'm more in psychological trouble [:@]. I am so sick of rain (my first full week since the end of school and this is what I get???? help!). We've gotten a little sunshine this morning, but I think it's clouding back over. *sigh*

Around here, there's not to much flooding, but NH seems to be a different story. OTOH, we do have an arson in the city that police estimate has burned 36 buildings... every night between 9-11pm the fire trucks go out too [&o].

We had lotsa wattah downtown, and we made the news.  I live on higher ground (although the groundwater gave me headaches - grain area flooded - we had to go and put the hay up higher so it wouldn't get soaked on the bottoms).  My horse had to move to the next stall because the one he's normally in flooded and he was standing up to his fetlocks in it.  Now, he's high and dry, but some folks actually had to swim their horses out of their barns to safety.
There were lots of roads closed, so getting around was a monumental pain - I'm not far from the Ipswich River, so you can imagine...
All in all, I am grateful that we did fairly well.   Some of my friends, who are business owners downtown, will be cleaning and recovering for months. [sm=uhoh.gif]

Anne, I'm glad you made out ok. So sorry to hear about your friends and thier business.  Most people hit hardest by this storm do not have flood insurance since its not something that happens often.  Its so sad. I feel really bad for the people in lawerence. Many of them rent and live in apartments and are on a lower income. You can bet they do not have insurance when they're too worried about making ends meet.  I really hope the government comes in to help.
