I love "Anchorman"  that was too funny!

    School of Rock

I like everything Jack Black has done, including his music in the duo, Tenacious D. I think School of Rock was a catharsis for him and for all of us wannabes. The first AC/DC song I learned was "Highway to Hell", which for me, has been one of their signature songs and was their first big hit.

Here's an odd trivium. Bon Scott, the original singer was playing in a woodwind quartet playing flutes and recorders before he joined AC/DC. Here's some more trivia. All original members of  AC/DC grew up in Australia but were from Scotland. After Bon Scott passed away, they found Brian Johnson, who sounds almost like him. Johnson, also raised in Australia, was also from Scotland.

"If you think it's easy playing one night stands
Try playing in a rockin' band.
It's a long way to the top
If you want to Rock and Roll..."

    ORIGINAL: ron2

I like everything Jack Black has done,

I wonder if you'll still be saying this after you see Nacho Libre (if you do)! [sm=rofl.gif] By the previews I'm not quite sure if it's going to be a hit or a bomb! But I heart JB, especially in S of R. Just thinking of him in that movie makes me [sm=rotfl.gif].

Jean, I had a completely different opinion of Walk the Line.  I, too, grew up listening to Johnny Cash, as well as June Carter, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, etc. and I loved the movie!  I thought Joaquin did an amazing job; there were times in the movie that it was like he was channeling Johnny Cash.  My husband loved it as well.  Incidentally, I thought Reese Witherspoon actually has a better singing voice than June - blasphemey, I know! Anyway, for those Jack Black fans - what did you think of Kong?  I thought it was great and JB was perfect.  Narnia was a beautiful homage to books that I treasured as a child; I can't wait for the next installment.  The latest Potter movie was a bit too scary for my little guy, but I thought it was great.  We also keep all three Lord of the Rings movies in permanent rotation on the DVD player.  My husband reads the book every year and he absolutely loves the movies. Has anyone seen The History of Violence?  Very violent but a really awesome movie.  Excellent storytelling. Chicken Little is a big hit around here right now. Tonight after the boys hit the sack we're gonna watch Aeon Flux.  Hubby's a big Charlize Theron fan (go figure) so he really wants to see it.  I can't wait for the new Keanu Reeves (I'd watch him read War and Peace!) and Sandra Bullock movie, The Lake House.  I'm really anticpating The DaVinci Code movie.  Loved the book (and I'm Catholic!); can't wait to see it on the big screen. Christi

I enjoyed JB in Kong. I enjoyed it at the theater but then when my daughter rented it to watch a second time, I only made it half way through. I was surprised to realize how many parts there were that I didn't care to see again (gross and disturbing). I saw A History of Violence and like it, also. I like Ed Harris, as well as Viggo. My son and I have read all the HP books and the whole family loves the movies (although DH gets a little bit lost about what's going on LOL). After I saw Narnia I went and read all 7 books (never had as a child). Now I'm anxious to see the next one too. My family is also a big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean and we're eagerly anticipating the next one coming out in July. DH and I both read and enjoyed DaVinci and will be going to see it when it comes out. People get so bent out of shape about stuff...it's fiction people! LOL I hope they're already planning out the movie version of Angels & Demons. Read that and enjoyed it too.

I really want to see "The DaVinci Code".

We'll have to agree to disagree on "Walk the Line", my3sons. :-)

One move I own that I watch and love is "Best in Show." Ya gotta laugh at these people!
And of course "This is Spinal Tap." CLASSIC! It helps if you were actually IN rock and roll bands of that era....yes, I have lived many lives.........

I just couldn't get past the first five minutes of "Family Stone." I dislike Sarah Jessica Parker anyway, and yeah, she was so incredibly obnoxious I just couldn't stand it. It was supposed to be funny, I know, but for me it wasn't. Maybe I'll give it another try on Netflix when I'm NOT in an airplane with jet noise in my ears!

My son had me watch "Crash" and I though it was very well done. Great movie.

Mission Impossible? Well, the one I saw didn't make much sense. I think that was the second one, or the first, oh heck, they all seem the same. I'll skip #3. That and Mr. Scientology can go take a hike. (A cult by any other name is still a cult.)

I read the "Da Vinci Code" and thought it was a fun, comic-booklike read. I'll see the movie simply because I'll see anything with Tom Hanks in it. I love that guy.

"Chronicles of Narnia" was wonderful! Loved it! That little girl is an amazing actress!

I love anything Wallace & Gromit!! Chicken Run resides on my DVD shelf as well.

"The Abyss" is an old but very enthralling movie. My ex-boyfiend worked with James Cameron. Cameron was getting a divorce at the time he made that movie. Think about that next time you see it. Poor guy. Makes it much more poignant.

"A River Runs Through It" yes, a wonderful movie!

And I too, love Jack Black. I want to see "School of Rock" and happen to own "Shallow Hal."

Jeano, have you seen "Waiting for Guffman?"  It's by the same people of "Best in Show" and "Spinal Tap."  They have another one about folk singers - "A Mighty Wind" - I haven't seen that one yet.  But I love those other three!

The movies by the people who did "Chicken Run" and "Wallace and Grommit" are excellent!  My cousin and I went to see "W&G and the Curse of the Ware-rabbit" -- the only adults there besides the parents with the little kids.  We laughed louder than everyone!  Between the goofy faces of those claymation characters and the dry British wit, which I adore, those are great movies!

I also like smaller, independent films with sweet stories.  Some of my recent favorites are "Amelie," "Billy Elliott," "Millions," and "Spellbound."

I love Hugh Grant, especially in "About a Boy" and "Love Actually."  I don't go to the theatre much (but I will for DaVinci Code!), and my husband and I rarely agree on rentals, so I'm often way behind on current movies!

To quote Goofy.."Gawrsh!' I haven't seen doodly squat lol. I JUST now saw the Narnia movie and it was okay. We saw "The Island" and that was a fun one...Djimon was totally babealicious in that. "Geisha" was alright but the book was 100 times better.

DH watches far more flicks than me. I have a hard time justifying sitting there for 2 hours when it's not a sport!

I'm on a casting boycott of "Walk the Line'...lol. Best movie about a dead musician is still "La Bamba" IMO, that movie rips out my heart every single time I watch it.

Chomping at the bit for the new Xmen flick to come out! Still totally offended that they're remaking "The Omen'...much as I adore David Thewliss.

Tracy speaking of Hugh Grant whom I love also (favorite of course being S&S)...have you seen him in Maurice? THAT's a different sort of role for him lol...I think his hair was at it's peak in that one! He cannot of course, touch a hair on Julian Sands head but he's very, very good!

We like Viggo, too. But my memory is forever crystallized by his roll in "G. I. Jane." He was the Master CPO (I'm using the correct rank, not the term used in the movie) in charge of BUD/s. Having known and grown up around the military, including people in special forces, I know how they act, their view, etc. My friend, who was a SEAL in Viet Nam even said that movie was the closest thing to what it's like. Viggo hit the mark dead on.

Viggo's beautiful, although I prefer him with the more Aragorn-ish look.  I haven't seen GI Jane but I'm assuming he wears a uniform and that might just send me right over the edge.  Can't resist a guy in his dress whites. Somebody mentioned Crash - that movie really moved me.  I've seen it on HBO since renting it and I have to say that it still makes me gasp when the store-owner shoots at the locksmith and the little girl...well, I don't want to give it away for those who haven't but want to see it. Somebody also mentioned X3.  That's one we've really been excited about.
