[:D]Beautiful pictures and I am tempted to say that one is Flower.. but I may be wrong. It has been about 4 years since we have been up that way. We normally stay at Onion Valley campground, then hike up Kearsage pass and go down toward part of the lakes. Somewhere,  I have a few pics of Frog Lake I think it is called, Robinson Lake and Gilbert as well.   I just LOVE the beauty of onion Valley campground.

The other place that I really love and want to pack into some day is around Big Pine area.  If you go to “glacier lodge” (the campground is decent, but nothing like the beauty and seclusion at Onion), but the lakes are incredible.. ICE BLUE… wow!  Too bad I last time I went to those lakes I didn#%92t have a digital camera, and I only had back and white film on me.. no one would believe the color of those lakes.   [:)]

I don#%92t know where my topo maps are right now.. but I “think” there is “first lake” and “second lake” and I can#%92t remember the names of all of them but there is a whole chain of them with incredible country to backpack through… ever been to those lakes, just outside of big pine?

i think the best one is either 3'rd or 4'th lake and YES, they are awesome. darwin lakes are another set of lakes that take on that color from the glacial silt:

    here's 4'th (i think):

OMG.. you have no idea how happy that picture makes me!  I only have the picture in my head of that lovely colored water.  Gosh it is gorgeous!

Something was weird about our topo map when we saw this lake. The hike should not have been more than an hour to get to the first lake or two, but it literally took us HOURS..   we didn#%92t bring enough water for our “short hike”and were both getting very dehydrated, I was very hot and was gettinga  bad headache.  I literally told DH that we would go around 1 more conrer and if we didn#%92t find that damn lake we we turning right around.. well guess what.. around that corner was first lake!

I think we made it to the first 3 lakes, but that was a day I will NEVER forget and we have always said we want to backpack through there…

Thank you so very much for posting that picture. You seriously made my day![:D]

    lostcoyote, what beautiful pictures!

When I have time for other interests (besides dogs and household) I am a conspiracy buff and like to read and post on a conspiracy board. I also like to sing and make music. This is a song I wrote and a friend did the mixing:

Ok, I sent the pic to Dh at work and he was soooo happy too then he said he didn't think that was 4th lake as the rocks above we have seen.. he says he think we have been almost at that same angle.  So we looked up topomaps together on line and I "think” it "might” be 3rd lake in that pic… We defiantly only made it to the first 3 before we had to head back to the campground as #4 was still a decent distance away….

Again, thank you though from both of us.. I think we might have just decided what next years vacation needs to be!  [;)]

Writing - not often, but when the mood strikes me, I can really go to town. I do plan on writing a book based on my experiences as an animal shelter worker, with all of the stories and interesting situations that I find myself in on a regular basis.

I know it's OT but I would buy that book if you wrote it. One of my favorite books is "Getting Lucky." It details some of the heart-rending stories involved in the Angel Animal Hospice. The woman takes in the sick and reject animals and gives them a warm, loving place in which to live out their final days.

Ha! Those are beautiful! I'm closer to the white sands. Up in the mountains at about 6000 feet.

It's interesting to read about everyone's hobbies and interests. I also love cooking. Hate housework, though!
