Well, gosh, this will be a bit OT now........

The last time I bought a NEW car was either '79 or '80.  It was a Mustang and I loved that car!  My dad always bought Fords and I've never had issues with my Fords, nor with the few Dodges I've had.  The couple of Chevy's.....oye!  DH came with a Citation and that thing was a major PITA.  We also had a Lumina van and that too was a PITA....so I'm not a Chevy fan at all.

I've also never bought anything other than "American", but I hadn't bought a vehicle since 2003 and dang, these days the American cars aren't made here anywho.  One of these days my son will get around to rebuilding the engine that he blew out on my F250 and MAYBE I'll get a few bucks for selling it.....no one wants an 8 cylinder right now....any more than they want a 37 foot motor home!  Gas is just too high.

Since I did actually finally take the plunge and buy new, and since I had wanted a Sportage for, oh, 12 years........I will say that having a 6 is really far less economical for me than I thought it would be.  But, I WANTED the 4 wheel drive.  After spending last winter sliding sideways half the time, no more rear wheel drive vehicles for me. The gas savings are still huge, but I still visit the gas pumps a lot.  However, I have almost 3000 miles on a vehicle that I bought a month ago!  DH on the other hand, drives the same 56 miles round trip every day, and he goes easily 10 days on a half tank of gas in the Spectra.  His is a 4 cyl but you would NOT know it to drive it.  But, again, I use my vehicle for work so I drive much of the day.  Once I kick the cig habit, I'll probably start using his for the daily calls and save myself some gas money.

So, congrats on the new car!  What fun it is to get a new one!  But, yeah, 100,000 miles?  Yikes....most of mine stick around for far longer than that!

We picked the car up last nite.  Went and had a bite to eat and, thank gawd, ONE beer.  It was dark when we left the watering hole.  Got on the interstate to come home and decided to get into the throttle a bit.  I looked down at the digital speedometer and was going 104.  Still had plenty to go but I was coming up on traffic so, of course, I slowed down.  Unfortunately, the traffic I was coming up on was a freakin' cop.  He pulled me over.  Said he had no idea how fast I was going but based on how fast I closed on him he was certain I was exceeding the speed limit.  Believe it or not, he told me to cut it out and sent me on my way.

PT Cruiser Eh? My Mom drives one of those...she got that milk white color...although right at the moment is it SCREAMING PURPLE AND WHITE striped, her co had it wrapped for her lol! She's crazy!

[sm=vomit03.gif] sorry folks.. the only one I would EVER be caught dead in is the black.. I HATE all the other colors... and I ONLY bought this car for the incredible space for tall, long legged doggies and ease of camping.  I wish the dogs would fit ok in the convertible though ... I would have preferred that....

;pretty much the PT cruisers in my area all driven by men wearing Hawaiian shirts and going through a mid life crisis... i have never seen another person like me driving any except the convertibles...  oh well.. I like to be different I guess!

You must not live in Oregon! I have met everyone form little old ladies (one had her done in a Hawaiin theme!) to surfer dudes to bikers (BOTH kinds) driving PTs.  My DH's is electric blue BTW.

I am amazed at just how much will fit n the backs of them. If they had better handling and more under the hood, I would consider one and that is a LOT for me to concede because I like sports sedans. Hmmm...maybe I should test drive the GT in the future? LOL

I would have to own a car for 50 years to put 300,000 on it.. I only put an average of 5-6,000 miles a year on my car
Yikes!  And I thought I didn't get out much.

Me too!  I have put less than 50,000 miles on my car...and bought it NINE years ago this month! It was a year old when I got it.

My car has just over 17,000 miles on it. I got it 23 months ago. [8|]

LMAO... sounds just like me!  When I got the PT Cruiser I traded in my car ... it was a 1991 geo that had only 39,000 miles on it.  LOL...

Lorib- maybe I need to consider moving to Oregon then so I fit in better![:D]  (I love oregon actually and would move there in a heartbeat!) You are right that the room in that thing is incredible and is actually what sold us on the car (in adition to an insane low price that we couldn't pass up).  I seriously think you should consider a GT convertible PT cruiser [;)]

OMG!  Hey, ya wanna meet so we can race my Intrepid against your GTO? LOLOL Mine will take a Beemer off the line!

I saw on "Speerders" the other night where a cop had to drive nine MILES to catch up to an Intrepid wthat was going (wait for it) 125 MPH!!! I looked over at DH and said, "See?  I told you I have driven my car to its full potential!" The look he gave me (bug-eyed) was priceless.[:D][:D]

You are sooooooo lucky that all you got was a warning. I can just hear the call to your insurance agent: "Hi! I got a new car...and a speeding ticket". GULP.

Nah, I don't want a convertible in rainy northern Oregon as my main car.  If I had the money for extra cars, it might be worth it though!
