I mentioned that I am gonna be a Grandma....  I was talking to my son (he's 31), and he casually said it would be cool to bring the baby home from the hospital in an outfit with a beer can on it.  Total outrage from Gram!!!!  Yes, I know he was trying to get a rise out of me!

You guys are ALL so spoiled!!  My son's daddy thinks upscale is a shirt that has sleeves and a collar.  EVERY single t-shirt he owns has a reference to marlboro, motorcycles, trucks, beer, etc.  I like beer and motorcycles myself, but I don't have to have a picture of jo camel on a hog w/ a truck in a sunset being chased by loose women on my clothing.  He considered pants with less than twelve holes in the butt, crotch, and legs not quite broke in yet.  Pants and shirts w/o oil stains are 'Courtin' duds'.    Lordy!!!!    [:@]   Jules

OMG, I laughed so hard I hurt!  Let me guess: he likes Larry the Cable Guy, right?

My DH does OK, but there are a couple of things he has that I would cheerfully trash if I weren't so cheap.  He got this grey sweater for Christmas (from his parents) that he loves.  I, OTOH, would be happy to give it to Gypsy for a bed.  I can't PRY it out of his hands. He also likes weird color combos.  However, he's come a LONG way from when I met him.  Everything he owned (other that Levis) was either grey or brown.  I swear, if he stood against a concrete wall, he disappeared!

I solved the man dressing problem by just dressing him myself... Work wise it's Khakis and Polos... Can't go wrong with those. Everyday wear it's Jeans and T shirts... good there also. For going out I make him my Ken doll. Anytime anyone compliments him on his outfits he points at me and says she picked it! I've helped several of his single friends figure out what to wear also.

I was so proud of him... recently he wore his first pair of low cut no show socks! [:D]

    Yes! Please!

So that I don't have to hide my Ben & Jerry pint and eat all the junk food I want!

OMG, these are hilarious!! It makes me feel so not alone. LOL!  I've turned my husband into a Ken doll, too, but he's a resistant one. So I have to work up to it slowly.  When we met, he had a gazillion pairs of Levi's that were in-style in the 80's (we met 2001) and either polo shirts or T-shirts and two PLAID button shirts. When he graduated from grad school, he put on a pair of grey pants from early undergrad days, and they were easily two-sizes too small for him.  But he had to be at the school in an hour.  I made him keep his gown on the WHOLE time.[sm=blush.gif]

When we go out now, I dress him best I can but he is so resistant to new clothes that I have a limited wardrobe to work with.  It's helping that whenever I do dress him, he gets compliments.  Or his friends compliment me on my ability to break him out of his rut. LOL[sm=lol.gif]

However, my biggest problem is men's shoes.  I am clueless what shoes go with what clothes with men. I tend to sneak peeks at my style-concious brother's feet and try to copy those without looking like we're copying. [8|]

Men's shoes -- rules for me are simple. NO SHOWING YOUR FEET unless you're on the beach. It drives me insane to see guys walk around in flip-flops EVEN when they're going out!!!

    You guys are too funny.

My DH is an impecable dresser for work. He owns all the same pants...just different colors. And only wears polos in the summer.

His non work attire is something else.....One pair of grey shorts for dress up...must be ten years old. Always worn with a white polo shirt and sandals

His winter attire, if he thinks he can get away with it, is a pair of skinny legged, elastic waist black cotton pants. If you are old enough, imagine Don Johnson and Miami Vice. He always wears the t-shirt tucked in. My girls are ready to kill him. I have threatened to have a bleach accident....but I  think he would get suspicious as he owns three pairs of the stupid pants.

i only wore birkenstocks for about a year while i was in college.

now i am more picky about my shoes. if i am wearing a suit or dressing up, black with leather soles are the two main requirements. for work (usually wear khakis) anything brown, i like brown suede a lot. i also have a fairly extensive selection of tennis shoes (from "old school"  checkerboard vans to running shoes). and of course i still have a pair of birkenstocks.

This one will crack you up...DH has gotten quite a paunch, and was having trouble with his pants, so I suggested some suspenders (I do think it is a medical issue).  So he pulled out the ones he bought for a choir Christmas fun sing....red with holly leaves, and he is now wearing them with jeans on the weekend.  Thank heavens he doesn't use them for work!  Honestly, I meant to get him something a little more appropriate the other day, and I forgot....gotta go out tomorrow....gotta go out tomorrow!   I'm gonna sign off so he doesn't see this!

This thread is sooooo funny! I had to stop reading it at work because I was laughing so hard. [sm=rofl.gif]

My SO's wardrobe consists of an elaborate collection of old skateboarding t-shirts, and he pairs them up with jeans in the winter and cargo shorts in the summer. That's it. Plain and simple. I practically have to drug him to get him to wear a nice button-up shirt for holidays (that I purchased, of course). When I try to get him to buy nicer clothes, he's like, "Why? Who am I trying to impress? I already have my honey." [8|] [:)]

The subject of men and clothing leads me to think of the next logical subject:  men and half-clothing:  PLUMBER'S CRACK
NNnnnnoooooOOOOOOooooo!!!  What is it with men and the need for visually assaulting the unsuspecting person behind them with a glimps of vertical smile??!?     Jules
