Men and clothes....

    Men and clothes....

DH is terrible at putting things together...today he went out in a blue shirt and green pants.  His Dad had impeccable taste...how did it get lost on DH?  DS is following his grandfather's footsteps (helps that he manages a men's clothing store).

Now blue and green can go together sometimes, but beige would have worked better.  I just think he haphazardly takes things out and puts them on.

I recently had to advise my DH that collarless dress jean shirts are no longer in fashion. He looked kind of hurt, I felt bad, but it needed to be done....

My husband does okay...he likes to have me or his Mom ;pick his work stuff and it all goes together so he can't mess it up :) I don't mind him not being overtly metrosexual tho...that would probably be hard for me to deal with. I cannot even stand women who are high maintenence and fru fru fashion wise...let alone a MAN...lol!

I am very straightforward and simple with my clothes...jeans and t shirt or tank top unless it's a special occasion lol! Then I can put on the dog as well as anyone else...

He works for BofA so it's business casual all week. Off work...he can make his own choices...and usually same as mine...jeans/jean shorts/cargo shorts and a t shirt.

Oh I wanted to add that my interest in styling my husband deteriorated a lot since I had my own "dress up dolls"..aka KIDS...lmao! Now THAT'S fun! He could now parade around in checkered shirt and parachute pants and as long as my kids look cute I really probably wouldn't notice...isn't that awful??

I hear you loud and clear!  The funny thing is even as a fashion failure he sure can waste time changing his clothes looking for the right ones...LOL
He is worse than I was when we were dating.

I have reached the point where I no longer consider his attire as a reflection of me but I never reached that level with him dressing my DD for elementary school - had a few occasions when I picked her up in the afternoons that I made sure they knew he had dressed her that day!

Brett's decent with clothes in general, but that man can't match his socks for anything. Now, I honestly could give a hoot about fashion, and if I can't wear jeans, tshirts, and tennis shoes somewhere, I'm probably not going (although I make exceptions). But despite my indifference toward fashion, I at least know how to match socks. A couple of weeks ago, Brett wore these atrocious thick green socks to a job interview, and when I saw him at home later, he had changed into shorts, a t shirt, sandles, AND THE GREEN SOCKS! Not just green but GREEN! You could see them from a mile away. Thankfully, no one on the police panel judged him by his socks since he starts on Monday, but man, I need to throw those things away so he never does that again.

Coincidentally, my dad can't match socks either. Of course, he can't match shirts and pants either, so maybe his problem is much greater than Brett's sock issues.

I have these pants that have an elastic waist and are are above my ankles.  I love them.  I've recued them from the trash can twice.  My wife refuses to let me wear them out of the house.  I recently went to Home Depot in them, and ran in to an aquaintance of my wife.  She (at my urging) sent an e-mail to my wife along the lines of "Dress yiour man" and something about the "capris" she had seen me in.  My wife had an all out fit - i'm not going to tell her i instigated it.[:D]

Josh always comes and asks me about his outfits and Ill usually go pick something for him and hell just wear it without asking questions lol.  I dont think he cares much at ALL about his clothes.  He doesnt even like buying them... I buy most of them ad he usually likes what I get if he doesnt hell say and Ill go get something else.  Theyve got it so easy lol.

It took YEARS, but Todd has finally learned.  I used to put the clamp type clothes pins on his hangers.....certain collar dots to indicate what went together.  A shirt for example might have just one dot cuz he could only wear it with certain pants, or it might have SEVERAL dots because it would go with just about anything.  I'm guessing it was around our 20th anniversery that I quite doing that!

Gary is pretty good at figuring out what goes together.  Once in a while, he will wear strange combinations of stuff, but most of the time, he does well.  When I was in the hospital, after having Emily, though, he brought Sarah, then 2-1/2, in some pretty strange outfits!  LOL!

I like that idea - it's like Garanimals for grown-ups!

Hey, it worked great.  When I met DH he was wearing mostly dickies pants and tshirts so I had to TEACH him how to dress for success....and the color combo's he came up with were downright SCARY sometimes!

I probably shouldn't admit to this, but I can't match clothing to save my life. I remember babysitting once, and the father walked out wearing something that the mother told him didn't match, and told him to go put on a different shirt. He argued that it did match, so she tried use me as backup. I didn't want to admit that I had no idea that you couldn't wear whatever colors he had on together, so I of course went along with her. If I have to get dressed up, I usually consult my older sister as to whether or not something is ok. I must have inherited the wrong color gene, and gotten the one from my dad instead of my mom, but at least I am not as bad as him; some of the stuff he walks out of the house wearing is so attrocious even I tell him it's wrong.

I want to say in men's defense that a large proportion of their population...is color blind, in varying degrees. This does NOT help a person match socks or clothing....lol. Something to consider!
