ladies... dont blame your husband for being a whine bag when he is sick. it isnt his fault. go to the source of the problem to lodge complaints... your mother-in-law.

A big AMEN to that, Bradley! DH got sick Thursday and was all weekend with a stomach virus that he got from DS. It was like the end of the world was near. I went to work on Friday, but made him jello, little containers of crackers (single servings), made up water bottles, ice chips, flat ginger ale, the works. Apparently that was not good enough, MIL called every 2 hours and tried to come over to hold his hand. Dear Lord, he's 25 for crying out loud!

Mind you, no one stayed home with me, cooked the meals or anything when I was recovering from a COLLAPSED LUNG! Men are such babies...

Bradley- I see where you are going with this one.. but it doesn't work in my DH's case.. he wasn't raised with a mom and his dad didn't allow his children to be whiney babies.

hmmm... perhaps it is due to the LACK of a mother in his life that NOW he needs to have a "mother figure" when he is ill to comfort him. SO he needs to whine and be comforted, but then also lashes out in anger perhaps because he DIDN'T have a mother around as a child.... that is a bit of a freudian theory.. but there might be something to that... Well, I had a mom who would take care of me. But I also had a dad who would make fun of me for whining or acting like a baby. If I stayed home sick from school, I better be throwing up and not able to move. Otherwise he's gonna drag my butt out of bed and put me to work. And putting up fences while you're sick is definately not any fun. I quickly learned that school was a much better place to be.

Shelly, I haven't even read the other posts (just your original) and I am laughing so hard right now! My stomach hurts! Let me tell you why.

I went to my mom's this morning to drop off Ash and when I pull up, I can see my step-dad's truck still in the driveway. I groaned. I knew it could only be one thing - he was sick.

I walk inside and my mom has a permanent glare on her face. I ask, "What's Kenny doing home? He sick?" She shifts her glare over to me and starts giving the same speech she does everytime this happens, "What do you THINK he's doing home? I swear, I have the two biggest babies in the world living under this roof. Him and your brother. They can't function at all when they're sick. You'd think they were dying. You'd think the world had stopped all because they're sick. Yes, he's sick. No wait - he's dying. He's upstairs dying right now. Of a COLD! I bet you, that if I bought him a bell, he would actually use it and ring it as if I'm his servant. Now I have to stay here all day with him.[:@]"  I felt bad for her and then came into work to read this. At least I know she's not alone.

    LMAO!!
Send your mom a link to this thread.. I think she needs it![;)]

btw- DH is "officially" home sick today... oh joy.. I can't wait to get home![8|]

I guess we should just be grateful that the menfolk aren't the ones having the babies! [:D]

Mine is more the quiet pity-me type. He is withdrawn and silent and if you ask him if he feels okay he says "yes I'm fine" but you can see he's not! If it drags on and I mention going to a doctor he immediately says "no really it's nothing...I'll be fine". I have to nudge him to take something to aleviate his symptoms...because that's the only way he'll take meds so he can feel better and stop moping.

I am a person when I am sick I am grouchy...but I also will take something to make myself feel better!

BF always has something wrong. Headache, sore knee, sore throat, pulled shoulder... something. He's fine until I need him to do something, then its, "Caaaannndaaaacce... my knee hurts, why do I have to go feed the dogs?" "Myyyy thoooooaaat reeeealllyyyy hurts, can't yoooooouuuuu do the dishes?" Sigh...

If he is really sick, OMG! Lookout! I have to do absolutely everything for him. "What kind of medicine should I take?" I tell him, and he MUST call his mom to confirm. She is a total enabler too. Constantly bringing him over perks and T3's. He love love loves going to the doctor. Hangnails warrant a trip to emerg as far as he's concerned. They might get infected you know. He has the same knee problems as I do. I manage mine with exercise and stretching, he manages his with painkillers and muscle relaxers.

I joked with him that when I went into the hospital to have Kali, he would probably have an appendix attack or something just to make the trip about him. And I told him unless he was actually dying, I had better not hear one complaint out of him. He waited until Kali was out before he started to complain about being dizzy...[:D]

Sounds like Bradley's "mother" theory... LMAO!  I do think that momma's baby their boys too much, and they do it when they are adults too .. however I don't notice as much of this behavior with moms and their grown daughters...  my mom would never put up with me acting that way...

[sm=biggrin.gif] - that's too funny.  My DH doesn't get sick very often, but when he hurt his back a couple years ago, and he did hurt it bad, the whole world knew.  If he had to turn over in bed, he'd grab on to me and moan with every tiny inch of movement.  By the time he'd made the turn, I'd be totally wide awake.  His funny quirk is if he's been around anyone who's sick, he starts waiting to catch it too.  If we've been a party and someone had a nasty cold, he'll start saying "you know Bob was really sick and now I have a scratchy throat too" [8|]   I figured he'd be a total wreck when he became an EMT, but so far he hasn't "caught" anything [:)]

Yeah, I'm not sure "fortunately" is the right word, but he's mostly had gunshot, stabbing and drug overdose patients [:)].
