I can't imagine that Ireland looks forward to these phone calls with her father if that's the way he talks to her. I'd avoid his calls too. There are such a thing as toxic parents.

i agree 100%.... it takes a strong personality to NOT want to lash out though. it took every ounce of self control i had, more than i gave myself credit for lemme tell ya, to not grab the phone and tell that kids mom just what i thought of her for the way she was manipulating things..... i'm really quite proud of myself..

That's verbal abuse, and it is no more justified because he and his ex have issues than if you had a bad day and came home and beat you kid.

I have felt so bad for this girl for years now. While I don't condone and am not trying to make excuses for Alec Baldwin, I think Kim Basinger has also commited a different form of child abuse here. I believe (my own personal opinion and belief) that she released this tape. We don't even know is Ireland heard this message. I believe Kim released it and that's just as bad as him leaving it. These two parents have sunken to lows before and this is just another one. This poor girl is caught in the middle of it. I was caught in an ugly battle between my mom and dad and it still resonates with me. They are both accountable and both responsible for this. They're not acting like adults and they certaintly aren't acting like parents.
