Week? Anyone still trying to lose weight?

Well, I lost that five pounds and have just stayed there. But I got a shot in the arm this weekend when my boyfriend asked for help to lose weight and help learning about how to control his sugar ups and downs and lose some weight. He's a real carbo-addict, but didn't know what carbohydrates were! I'd tell him not to eat all those potato chips and bread all the time (he just comes over to my house and becomes an eating monster) because it's too much carbohydrate and he'd say "I don't get it! What's that got to do with FOOD?"

See, he never finished highschool, and while very intelligent, has some extreme gaps in his education. He thought he could get high cholesterol from potatoes, for example.

Anyway, by helping him figure out how to eat sensibly I helped myself to get boosted to continue to eat right myself. It's hard when your boyfriend is eating every starch in the house (and your period is coming) not to want to eat some Kettle Chips TOO! [sm=rofl.gif]

I'm going to visit my son in New Mexico, leaving NEXT THURSDAY, YIKES, and I still weigh more than he's ever seen me weigh. AaaaaAAAAAaaaaack!! He's just going to have to deal with it. I'm not obese or anything, but unless I lose a couple of limbs I'm going to still weigh 160 when I get off the plane...

And I have to go off my diet when I'm down there at least twice because I HAVE to have GOOD Mexican food!! What Fairbanks has to offer in that department is sad, very sad, to an ex-New Mexican.

Oh, and I've figured out an exercise thing that I won't forget or avoid doing: putting on music and dancing for at least half an hour every day. [:D]

    How is everyone else doing?

Hmm a steady diet of caffeine and nicotine.... to lose weight, joking!  I have carnation instant breakfast in the morning, salad for lunch and normal dinner.  I also drink shots of apple cider vinegar.  It has all helped and I do yoga everyday along with horseback riding.

    I don't really diet anymore, I'm a 'perma-pudge' and after I lost 275 pounds (all 6 foot 4 inches of him) I don't desire anymore weight loss.  [;)]  Jules

I'm like you Jean. Nothing major in weight loss. But still working it.

You just gave me an idea on what I can do also for fitness. DANCE, Boogie time. Disco... Since my hubby is at work all day, I can crank it and cut a rug too. Thanks for the idea.

Hi, Jean - I'm pretty sure that I've gained weight since I was sick for three weeks. Let's just say that I'm glad to be back at work, and that it's a GOOD thing. Ugh, I hate it when my most strenuous exercise is kicking myself. Congratulations on your loss, though!

You guys crack me up.  [sm=rotfl.gif]  Here comes my confession...I work hard all day on my feet.  Walk the dogs just about every day and hike on the weekends.  In the summer we love to water ski, swim and play hard.  I have a permanent pudge also. (baby fat from the twins.  Never mind that they are 18 years old now)  Doesn't help that my hubby hasn't gain one pound in the 27 years that I have known him and gets better looking as the years go by and I'm looking more like a hag.  Good luck to you all......

Well I've probably lost a few pounds after this weekend.  Haven't felt much like eating but I'm getting better.  I have been drinking alot of water.  about 3 or 4 litres.  And cleaning like a madman.  And I've been dancing up a storm to I Will Survive!!!

I've been working my butt off. Planting, digging, putting in 3 ponds. Plus I have 3 kids and pets to care for. I never have time to sit. The only time I sit is when kids are eating or watching a movie and all my work is done. Now that it's getting nice outside and ducks are almost due to hatch I wont have ANY time to sit on my butt. But I have been watching what I'm eating. Pants are still tight.

How is everyone doing? I'm down here in Albuquerque (any i-doggers here to meet?) at my son's place and after three nights of little sleep and an epic series of plane trips (16 hours) I seem to have lost at least another three pounds if not more. I'm going by the way my pants are loose on me now, compared to how tight they were when I got on the first flight.

I guess living on peanuts, apple juice, 1 breve, and 1 doughnut for a whole day while flying UP and down and UP and Down and uP and DoWnnnnn does something beneficial to the metabolism, heh.

I have not lost really any weight yet. Maybe 1lb or 2. But I am starting to shrink in the stomach, face and thigh areas. I try not to weigh myself as I tend to get discouraged and give up! [:(

I have been trying to get in at least 30min worth of physical activity a day and my energy levels have really been up. Did alot of gardening and yard work over the weekend, laid sod and planted trees. This week I am really going to step up the physical exercise. I have been watching what I eat and been cutting calories left and right and drinking plenty of water. I have a goal to meet by my DH's b-day in October!!!

According to the scale yesterday I've lost another 4 lbs.  Not sure how, other than the stress with my Mom.....and trying to get ready to move I quite often forget to eat when I'm busy.

I WISH I could forget to eat sometimes. I'm smoking more than normal because I'm trying not to snack. I refuse to weigh myself. I am going by the the fit in my jeans. I put on my bathing suit Saturday, and cried my eyes out for 20 minutes. This is really bothering me, more than it ever has. I've been trying everything, water, salads, veggies, walking riding my bike. I just can't believe I can't lose a measly 15lbs.

I have almost met my goal by eating salads, carnation instant breakfast in the morning and small healthy snacks during the day.  I also take a shot glass of apple cider vinegar with every meal and snack before I eat.  Its all been working for me.  As well as the Yoga and horse riding I do.[;)]

If you cut your calories TOOO much, your body goes into starvation mode and basically becomes more efficient at conserving calories. So in affect, you've slowed your metabolism instead of increasing it.  The safest, most long lasting weight loss is 1-2 lbs per week.  You might be able to loose it more quickly but you aren't as likely to sustain the weight loss.

I'd suggest eating normal, healthy meals but LESS of them.  Keep celery sticks cut up in the fridge in a peanut butter jar of cold water, so when you feel the need to snack, you can without guilt.  If you want chocolate, have a hersheys kiss or a snack sized candy bar.  Dont deprive yourself.  Remember this is NOT a diet...it's a lifestyle change.

I absolutely HATE putting on a swim suit myself. I need to go buy one that doesn't fall off me, but I DREAD the thought of seeing my flabby inner thighs in a swim suit under those harsh lights!!  Think I'll look for one with a skirt this year.....
