Bushy Eyebrows?

    Bushy Eyebrows?

Just thought I'd spread my opinion on how to preen your eyebrows, I have the misfortune of getting bushy eyebrows like my hairy father and they are impossible to keep in line. I tried everything!!! They are also long curly buggers then I found the amazing technique, threading! It's fabulous and in NZ is normally pretty cheap. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded now for 2 years and will never get them done another way

What is threading? I don't think I've ever heard of it.

I'm lucky enough that there is a barber shop (not a salon, I was surprised) where a friend of my fiance works. He does an amazing job. He starts by waxing with a mixture that includes aloe vera, straight from the plant. Then he puts on some anti-bacterial lotion and uses a razor to clean up some areas, and then he tweezes. I also have bushy eyebrows and I LOVE the way he does it, because he doesn't make them thin like all the other girls my age. He keeps them a little bushier than most girls and just cleans them up and shapes them. It's more the shape than the thickness, I think. The best part is that with a BIG tip included I still pay less than I would at a salon.

threading is an indian technique it's basically thread used to rip the hairs out they twist the thread round the hairs it's pretty fast and relatively painless. The lady that does mine is really good they aren't thin as you said and have great shape. It nearly has the same effect as wax but last longer and is better for the skin

Thank god I do not have bushy eyebrows because I would not be able to handle it!

I tried plucking and I literally cry. I just can not do it. Then last year I tried to get them waxed...(.remind you all my freinds said it would barley hurt) HA I wanted to die, my eye brows were red for the whole next day.

I have pretty good eyebrows naturally, so thats the way they are staying!

Although I pluck my Bf's eyebrows [sm=evilfire.gif]...hes a man he can handle it!

I have bushy eyebrows. I HATE them. I have ALWAYS hated them. They are awful and horrible and evil. I have never had them professionally done though so maybe I should try it. Below is a picture that shows them the best. I can't say enough how much I loathe them. Not only are they bushy, they are BLACK. They stand out like no other. I can honestly say there is not one single part of me that likes my eyebrows, although I have received numerous compliments throughout my life on them. I don't get it. They are a pain in the ass. Both of my parents have busy eyebrows so there was no hope for me. [:(]

I pluck mine........I got used to the pain.....it's less painful than a tattoo.
Besides, my hair is fairly light, so the eyebrows are not really that dark, come to think of it, I can't even really see the hair on my arms.

I have bushy eyebrows and have also gotten compliments on them my whole life.  I have to glue them down with eyebrow gel everyday b/c otherwise they are everywhere.  I get mine waxed every 4-6 weeks and pluck a stray hair here and there but cannot stand pulling my hairs out one at a time...I would rather have them all ripped out in a few swoops!  And I would rather let someone else shape them.

I have been thinking about trying this threading thing though and have heard about it a few times now.  I even went so far as to locate a place locally.  Guess I should try it this time.

I guess I have pretty normal eyebrows, but I have dark hair so I have to at least pluck strays.  I also pluck for a tad bit of shape, but nothing that requires a lot of maintenance.  The pain doesn't bother me, though I've been plucking for 8 years and my brows will still get red and swollen for an hour, so I have to be careful when I do it.  Waxing and other professional treatments are a waste of money to me.

    I have pretty bushy eyebrows:

I REFUSE to pluck them. I did it a couple of times and swore to never do it again. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but for some reason plucking makes me cry, it hurts so much. I finally decided that causing myself that much pain just to change the shape of my eyebrows was dumb, so I quit. If I could tolerate the pain though, I'd probably suck it up and do it. Mine do look WAY better plucked and shaped...but it's just not worth it to me.

I have plucked forever - and with light skin and dark hair, it's obvious if I don't!  But the few times I've gotten them done - so nice!!  Just hard to train yourself to let them grow enough to worth waxing.

How did you restrain yourself from plucking before your waxing became a habit?

Mine a moderatly bushy, but they are well shaped.  I doubt I will ever get them done unless it is my wedding day or something.  If someone doesn't like it and critizises me for it, I probably wouldn't want to hang out with someone like that anyways.  But honestly no one has ever said anything about it.

I got teased a lot for bushy eyebrows when I was little, and honestly? They're not THAT bushy. Elementary school kids are just cruel... I'm still sensitive about it!

According to a beautician I know, threading is much better for your skin than waxing, because waxing your eyebrows strains the small facial muscles and makes your eyes droop when you're old. (I'm not sure if I buy this, but that's what she claims.)

Since everyone else is posting pictures, here are my monsters :-p (this is after minimal self-plucking - they look much better if someone does a really good waxing job, but I'm terrified someone will screw them up and am also lazy, so...)

Oh - and to ease the pain, using creams that are designed for bikini area depilitory activities before and afterwards can really help.

I pluck a stray hair here and there but I really HATE plucking my eyebrows so it isn't really a matter of restraint.  I probably end up going about once a month for a wax.  I am due and I am going to call a threading place here and try that this time.  Before I started waxing regularly and knew how good they looked shaped, I just had really wild eyebrows that I would glue down with eyebrow gel.

Sheesh!! I hope that's not true, or I'm going to have some droopy eyes!!  I don't have bushy eyebrows, but I do need to get them shaped every so often, so I like to get them waxed once a month or so.
