    AHHHHH! (shopping frustration)

OK, I realise that for a few reasons I may not get much sympathy for this, but WHY WHY WHY is it so hard to find bikini tops for cup sizes bigger than a B or a C? I can wear a bikini, truly I can, but I can't find ANYTHING I like at any of the stores around me. Bikinis, along with bras and certain other items, I refuse to buy online because I am seriously choosy about how they fit. For my upcoming honeymoon, I need several because I only currently have one swimsuit that fits, and that is NOT enough for a 2 week trip during which I will probably be in a bikini for all but the 2 waking hours I will spend eating dinner. (Proper clothes required in the restaurants.)

WHY? Why is the overwhelming media attitude towards breasts "bigger is better", but then they don't sell clothes to fit?

    Argh!

Oh and Billy, feel free to have a field day with this. [;)]

As someone who's shaped like an adolescent boy "up there," I feel your pain from the opposite end of the spectrum! And I also hate how a B isn't a B isn't a B, but that each brand seems to have a different cup fit/size. Seriously annoying. Hope you find something that works... as a last resort, could you get something custom made at a tailor?

Sweetie...hopefully you are NOT wearing a bikini more than 2 hours a day on your honeymoon...[;)]

Sorry.. HAD to make that statement![:)]

OK, that said you definatley need more swimwear for your trip!  I don't have any suggestions for where you live but I know that for me I ALWAYS have to shop at places that sell the tops and bottoms seperately. Have you tried on some of the C's on?? I wear a C and some of the swimsuit tops in size C that I have found actually have a little room in them, so if you aren't trying the C's on at all, give them a try. The biggest problem is that these swimwear makers assume that you are going to WANT to spill out of your bikini top so they don't make them like bras so that they actualy "hold" you in.

Whatever you do, make sure the top fits nice and snug... I have had more than 1 episode in Hawaii where a big wave comes up and there goes my bikini top![:o]  One time I actually completely lost it in the water and had to have one of my family members bring a towel into the water so I could cover up.  [&o]   This last trip to Hawaii in March I watched a woman who was too into how she was looking in her bikini NOT pay attention to a wave and she lost her BOTTOMS less than 10 yards from me... that was just awful!

I agree with Shelly...be sure to shop where you can buy a seperate top and bottom.  I wear a D and when I do find soemthing that fits around, it is never enough coverage in front and I am always scared a nipple will go flying out at the first sharp movement.  I have found that my favorite are the halter style tops which have been pretty common in the past few years....I haven't shopped yet this year but suprisingly, Target is usually where I find the best deals and fits.  I always wear a different size on top and bottom so buying seperates and being able to pick the style of top and bottom I like is important to me.

I am so jealous of your honeymoon....mine was fabulous and we can't wait until the day we can go back.  And believe me, you will be wearing that bathing suit a little less than you think![;)]  Maybe you have already said, but where are you going?

Thanks all! I am making a major assault on the shops on Tuesday - and Wednesday if I need to. There are a few places I can think of that do separates, I will check them out first.

Boneyjean - I am spending 2 weeks on a tiny island in the Maldives.

Kate, I have the same problem.  I have finally found the perfect solution.  I used to overthink the entire situation & stress over finding the perfect top.

    Go TOPLESS
No stress, no hassle, no problems of any kind.......  Honestly, how long do you plan on wearing the bikini anyway?  It's your honeymoon, c'mon we all know better than that.

Oh and another thought, I always thought I needed an underwire in my bathing suit since I always wear one in my bra...I have since decided that is part of what makes them not fit me since they aren't the same as a bra.  As long as I have a thick tie, i.e. not a string bikini on top, I feel it will hold just fine.

I have found that my favorite are the halter style tops which have been pretty common in the past few years.

I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THAT! These are WAY better and also MUCH better for snorkeling and scuba diving too Kate since you don't risk losing them as easily if the waves are bigger.. I have a handful of them that are halter style because you can find a bigger fit and also they keep things in a bit better.  I will absolutely warn you though that if you have never worn this style... do not panic when you put one on and see how enormous your boobs look in them. I do NOT get what it is that makes them appear so much bigger with this style but my “average C's”... look like a DD's in that style and it can be a bit uncomfortable to get use to. Usually since I reserve this style for snorkeling, I will wear a tank top over it in the water if there are a lot of people around because I am VERY self conscious about people staring at my chest. It is just one of many weird hang-ups I have but you may not find it so awkward.  GREAT suggestion Sarah![:D]

Wooohooo! I knew I could count on you girls. The one bathing suit I have is a halter-neck tankini, but I wasn't sure if the halter would hold the "girls" in as well with less material to go around lol. I want at least one with "normal" straps so I can switch back and forth and not wind up with horrendous tan lines, but I think a few halters are in order.

Amanda - I will have to check the resort's stance on going topless. We can actually hire a totally deserted island for a day if we want, I may do that and use it to get an "all over" tan. :D

I love my halter style tops.  They keep everything where it needs to be & you can be very active in the water without having to worry.  I also love the triangle top, but I reserve those for the days when I know that I am not going in the water.  I have lost one of these type tops when a wave hit me.  The upside of the triangle top is that the tan lines are minimal.

I also have this problem.  Less now than what it used to be, but still a problem.  I will buy my bikini from Target or Victoria Secret since they sell tops/bottoms as seperates.  I seen some at Macy's the other day too.
I've been looking for some suits myself lately.  We are not going on our honeymoon til late June though.

I've had trouble finding suit tops in the past in that I'm very broad-shouldered, but have small boobs.  Before I gained some weight, I was like an AA cup.  Anything that fit around me, I couldn't fill (same problem with bras).

Like someone else suggested, I've switched to the halter style tops and like them much more.  Since the have a bit more coverage, you don't have to be as accurate with cup size.  They also stay on a LOT better if you plan on diving or swimming in decent waves.  It seems most halter tops are padded, so if you're like me you get ones that are more padded or if you have a bigger chest, you can take the pads out or use thinner ones.

I also shop mix-and-match and rarely get the same size top and bottom.

I feel your pain.  I have no suggestions for stores, since your in England.  I can't shop at Victoria Secrets because I'm larger than their sizes (cup wise, around wise I'm not that big).  It's been a hassle, and I can't find bathing suits that fit.  They either fit my top and are too big on the bottom, or fit my bottom and I can't get them over the girls.

I plan on getting a reduction in the hopefully not too distant future, for cosmetic as well as health reasons (I'm big enough that its a discomfort to my back and neck as well as prohibiting me from high impact sports).

But like someone else said, your on your honeymoon, you won't probably be wearing the bathing suit much lol.

You might want to check out Lands End - I just got their swimsuit issue of the catalog and there are some nice looking mix and match suits in there. My mom says they are great about measuring product so you know the exact dimensions while you're on the phone w/ them and such.
