    GREAT house news!!

OK, this is a week late, but we hadn't signed the lease until today so didn't want to jinx anything.

    WE FOUND THE PERFECT HOUSE!!!!!!

It's wayyyyy out in the country surrounded by trees and fields and nothing else.  BUT, off a busy enough road that plowing will be done regularly.  The house is a bi-level.  Lower level has been made into an "apartment" with a sitting area, one bedroom, full bath and a nice big family room, full kitchen and a great furnace room for storage.  The main level is a HUGE kitchen, with a propane cooking stove (I LOVE cooking on propane) laundryroom, big bathroom, 3 bedrooms and the livingroom.  Go out the kitchen door to a small deck in the back yard, or out another kitchen door to an attached 3+ car garage with a workshop already built in......go out the FRONT door onto an enormous deck.  Under the deck is the entrance to the lower level kitchen, sliders.  The house has TWO water heaters, and a geo-thermal heating/cooling system!  In the garage, a kennel is already built in that leads to a dog run..........huge above ground pool dug down to 6 foot deep in the backyard.......

And, get this....the owner, who is moving to FL, is the Shelter Supervisor for the Humane Society!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  He loves critters (has a neopolitan mastiff himself and cats) and could care less HOW many we have!

I gotta say, this house is EVERYTHING I want in a house, right up to the geo-thermal, the stove....everything is PERFECT, including the owner!  We're going to rent for a year, get our ducks lined up, then do a rent-to-own for another year before we purchase it outright.

I'm so totally physced!!!   AND, Mom got to go home from the hospital today too!  So a GREAT day for us all around!

I'll tell ya, if I could afford to pay two rents for the month of May, I'd be there!  I can't WAIT to get into the house.  He'll be gone by the first of May, probably before, and we're starting our lease on the 20th, but he's totally cool with us taking stuff over in advance so I can get the ktichen (s) and bathrooms functional for us, and move some of the extra stuff, do some painting, do the cleaning, etc.....so even tho it's a further trip for me to go down, DH can drop off a load several times a week and we can go over on weekends and I'll go to down WITH him days that DS will be home with the dogs and get my thing done.......Man!!  I just can't WAIT!!!

He HAD the house rented.  The couple that was taking it was supposed to come back with the deposit.  On the day he was expecting them, the wife called to let him know they wouldn't be taking the house since the husband had run off with some young girl.  So, he needed to find good people and we were the lucky winners!  When we were talking today we were talking about all the dogs on freecycle and all the lame excuses folks have for dumping their dogs at the HS....I told him I'd live in my motorhome before I'd rehome my critters....he laughed and said "why do you think YOU guys got the house?  I could TELL"....and hes totally cool with my fostering dogs and HUMANS.........

Funny, the first thing DS did was try to claim the lower level apartment....ummmm, no.  First off, I've seen what a slob he is and I'm not gonna have him trashing an entire floor of the house, and second, that kitchen is MINE!!!  Sure, he can use it, and he can store his junk food down there, but I'm not giving up a second kitchen!  That's gonna be where I do my canning and freezing in the fall and where I make the dog food.  Will be sooo handy to bring everything in through THAT door when I shop and keep all the supplies for the dog food in one place and NOT have to lug it all upstairs to cook and then back downstairs to the fridge, like I have to do now.  Plus when I get those wild hairs I'm known to get and decide to cook and bake up a storm, I'll do it in the second kitchen and be able to keep the main one cleaner AND not heat up the whole house when I go crazy.

Every year when I do my canning I wish I had a kitchen in the basement or cooler level of the house so that I could walk away from the jars cooling everywhere and now I will.
Canning generates soooo much heat that if you could do it in the middle of the winter you could forget the furnace!!

So, yeah, DS can have some of that level to himself and that'll actually be nice for all of us.....but he's not getting my second kitchen!![:)]

For the move, the setup that is already there will be perfect for the dogs.  Once I get reasonably settled tho, will run fencing from the patio doors in that second kitchen around to the back so that the dogs can go in and out THAT door  It's tucked nicely under the enormous front deck, so they'll have some protection from the snow and stuff, no one will have to deal with stairs (Tyler HATES stairs) and they'll have more fenced room to run.  Out in the country or not, I won't let my dogs out loose and take a chance of them being hit by a car on the nearby country road, or mixing it up with a skunk or porcipine.......
