You guys are BRAVE. Luckily I have naturally good eyebrows, because I CAN NOT PLUCK. Yup I cry at plucking my eyebrows.

I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time last year....and holy crap did that hurt!!!

There is no way in hell I would be able to stand getting a brazillian wax!!! I want to hella bad, but I have a feeling that if I can not stand to get my eyebrows done there is no way I get stand getting the down south region done[&:]

My friend had the brazilian and said she had to go down on all 4's HAHAH I can't ven imagine how embarressing that is.

Any tips for picking a good salon for waxing?

You know, it's disgusting how much more expensive these sorts of things are here compared to Europe... in Madrid you can get a full leg wax at a reputable salon, with after-creams and everything, for 20 euros.

I've tried waxing myself... I was pretty happy doing my legs, but harder to reach areas... ehh.... I also have very sensitive skin, so I have to do only a strip or a time or my whole leg turns bright red and all the hair follicles get swollen and itchy. Very attractive. (Same thing happens if I shave too often. Fun!)

Oh my gosh . . .just when I was starting to feel all brave and pumped up about this, you go and mention TWEEZING. Oh my gosh . . . I will be crying, for sure. I will give her all of my money to make it as fast as possible. The things women go through . . .

My stomach actually flipped over when I read this too.  No way - just the thought makes me jittery.  Gina - you be sure to tell your DH he is one lucky guy!!!  I'm not even telling my DH about this discussion cause I know what I'd get for my BD [:)]

I am SHOCKED that no guys other than Ed made a comment in this thread!  Not even a request for pics!  Boy this is a really clean board!

I don't think it's such a clean board, I think we're all still freaked about the 12 year old's post on the silly secrets thread.  [:D]

I'm a shaver though not exactly thrilled about it. My refusal to get a bikini wax is ALL ABOUT being too embarrassed... gawd there is just no way. I'm satisfied that I can show my bits to the gynecologist and that's about all I can handle thank you! I've always wanted to try home waxing but I am not sure how advisable it is... seems like not too many people do it. The pain factor doesn't freak me out much, I just don't want to brutalize my sensitive skin.

It's funny, we were just talking about this today at work... my coworker was telling us about the worst parts of beauty school, including waxing a body builder's butt - in her words, "one of us held his cheeks apart and the other one did the waxing." AAAAGH!

    It could be inadvertant maturity.

OH MY GOSH! Lol!   The embarrassment factor is huge for me as well. I would like to think that the tech is used to it and isn't phased at all, but still! To have to do the "happy baby" or get on all fours, as someone else mentioned, is just not cool at all. I can't believe I'm going to actually go through with this.

thank you, ed, for mentioning that because i felt like a felon or something after i saw that!

and i see i missed a very entertaining thread!!![:(]

i don't shave my armpits, never have, phooey to you all that are disgusted by it.  i have to shave my damn legs every single god-forsaken day.  as far as the bikini region goes, i've tried to wax myself and it was a nightmare!!! never ever ever again!  the old man is just gonna have to work around the "grow-back".  for someone like me who's got a lot of tattoos and big jewelry in all my piercings, waxing sure brings a tear to my eye!  (i'm a WUSS-- just don't tell anyone!)

    Hehe,

Many, many moons (years) ago, I bought an epilady.........I totally understand what you said about the pain.  It got where I would actually drink before hand just to see if I could handle the pain.  Nope, couldn't do it.......and drinking did not help the mental accuity that I needed to work that thing!

Threw the thing out and went back to shaving and have stayed there ever since.

Umm I don't think you're the only one... not to be negative but that was the ultimate thread killer there.  I think we all read that and said "YIKES" at the same time.

To all you ladies that do or don't shave, wax, spray, scrape, pluck or whatever else is left:  It's your body-be proud of it, as long as you're happy that is what is important.

All I can say is that it is good to be blonde, old, and live in New England (where you can wear slacks all winter and no one can see...[;)])
When you're this old no one cares about a few stray hairs anyway.  After all, at my age, the men have hair in their ears for gosh sake.  Eeeewwwww.  Solution?  Get a younger boyfriend who loves you for your mind.

Good gravy. I could never do a brazilian wax. That's just..crazy. I can't even stand going to the gynecologist, LOL!

I shave my armpits every other day, my legs once every couple weeks, if they're lucky! But I don't have a boyfriend, soo... The "nether region"...ehhhhh I shaved it a couple times, but it was so uncomfortable growing back in, I stopped. I just can't deal with that. Again, no boyfriend, so maybe that'd be different if I had one. [:)]

OMG Anne..a certain male I know, who is 28 years old, has hair ON his ears. Like, thick dark hairs growing from his earlobes. It makes me laugh every time I see it, and I have to yank on it. Apparently that's slightly painful...[:D

Haha, I know! I get all freaked out about a week beforehand and have to take at least 3 showers in the 12 hours before my appointment. Then I'm so embarrassed I can barely look her in the eye. Man, I'm a wuss.

    Lol you young things!
My gyno has seen a 9lbs baby's head come out of there...yeah...I'm over it!
Get in strip down, assume the position and have a convo about the kids...then I'm gone. [sm=rofl.gif]
