Cleaning silk flowers

    Cleaning silk flowers

I have heard you can shake them in a paper bag with salt and it will clean the dust off.  Anyone tried this, or another method?  I got a spray one time, but found it messy and not effective.

Can't you just put them in water and air dry them. I'm not sure I don't have any.

I put them in a the sink w/ a little downy and warm water (cause I love the smell) and water then swish them around, put them in the drain board and voila

Now I used the spray and loved it.  When David and I got married 9 years ago I had silk flowers -- and 5 years later when we renewed our vows I got some of that spray stuff at Michaels and it brightened them back up wonderfully.  And in another year when we renew our vows at 10 years, I'll drag it back out and freshen it AGAIN!!!  *smile*

I wouldn't have thought you could put them in water....

I like the spray, too.  I think I got mine out of some catalog.  I have a really huge pot of assorted silk flowers and a silk wisteria tree and I just take them outside to spray them, shake the moisture off a little and bring them back inside.  You'll want to spray outside because the stuff smells pretty strong.
