Injured breaking up fight...Graphic pic inside..

About 4 days ago I had a lapse in judgement that I paid for pretty nicely.

We follow a pretty strict policy when it come to feeding time and I was alone, and it was getting late,so I cut some corners..

What ensued was a 3 way fight between my dogs and I dove right in to separate them.A 3 dr arm would have been nice.Anyway, one of the dogs (who I belive was after the other male)chomped down on my leg instead.I got him secluded pretty quickly and then got the other 2 back inline. All this happened within a minute..

5 minutes later they were all playing together outside like nothing ever happened..It doesnt pay to cut corners.By doing so I set up a confrontation ,and here are the results..

Oddly enough .it didnt hurt, and my clothing wasn't even ripped.I seemed to have injued my leg by pulling my leg out of the dogs mouth.

Moral of the story, don't set up confrontational circumstances to save time.

Unfortunately, I've learned the same lesson in much the same way.  I can't even imagine how you were able to handle the 3 dogs by yourself, but I'm glad you did.  Sorry about the injury though.

"didn't hurt" sounds like the adrenaline talking... and all the dogs are ok??  amazing, lucky, and how you managed all three i have no idea either...

Yep - I indulged in a similar lapse in judgment with Pofi and Mia nearly a year ago.  3rd rainy day in a row, DH and I both were sick with colds and they were not getting the same level of exercise.  A fight broke out over some sort of treat or chew on the second floor and DH was on first.  I tried to intercede and it was sort of like my hand collided with a snapping mouth more than someone bit me - I had punctures at the base of my thumb, but it turned out to be a gash similar to yours (possibly smaller) on the pinky side of my wrist that was the trouble maker. Nicked a nerve, but the feeling came back in stages.....

Mine were playing again minutes later while DH dropped me at the ER.

PS - I know it's gotta be painful - hope it heals soon.  Did you get antibiotics?

OUCH!! Looks like you need a few stiches!!!  I had a similar conflict with one of my cats!!  He was only like 3 months old and he got his back leg stuck in between the slats of a bench.  I, being the bright one, ran to the rescue.  Next thing I knew, I was screaming and holding my finger in a shot-glass full of peroxcide!  He bit my index finger to the bone and severed a nerve in my finger!  I couldn't feel my finger for days!!

whoa! I don't blame you for reaching in...i've reached into some nasty fights between my moms JRT and beagle...

Dude, you need to buy one of this:

They are suppose to be for small open wounds but i would not mind to finish a whole bottle in that scar, it works wonders!!!!!! it wears off itself and you dont have to be worry about fabric getting stuck in there, and you can take a shower without problem, is water resistant!!!!! is like if you just put super glue on it, you can try this other one too but thats more for scratches

Yikes!! .... hope you're back to completely covered in skin, SOON! [:)]

I have had similiar wounds in the past doing stupid things, and am taking care of myself..Keeping it well cleaned and bandage..

My wife laughed at me because after i situated the dogs,i went into the bath room and washed it thoroughly, slatherd it in tao,and covered it with a Feminie Pad..lol

Keeping it covered in maggots to keep down the infection...[X(]
    Thats a joke..lol

    Its healing...Might have a scar tho..lol

Just happy it was't my arm..

I had a gouge similar to that. I was walking Shadow in town once and a Jack Russel Terrier that was allowed to run loose came after us. I was trying to keep the two from really getting into and stuck my leg in between just as Shadow was lunging. One of his fangs got me. No, I wasn't mad at him, it was just a matter of timing. It wasn't even a re-directed bite. He just happened to have his jaws open.
