Income tax procrastination

    Income tax procrastination

My son uses our tax program and has his info stored on our computer.  So yesterday, in one breath, he was telling me how sick he was (flu), and in the next breath saying he was coming over to do his taxes.  "Son, I don't want you coming over here if you have the flu."  I could hear his heart sink...mean ole Mom!  He finally figured out that he could do it by remote, so it ended well.  Of course, it's not like we haven't mentioned it a few times in the past weeks.

He's not usually like this, I should say.

It must be a man thing, DH can never get his stuff together in time.  We almost always get an extension.  Except this year, we made it to the accountant by the 4th of April, for us that was early![:)]

hahahahaaa  Taxes!!!  I love the season, you get all kinds!!!  I volunteer at a VITA center and you have some crazy things come through the door, the closer to the 15th, the crazier they get!  Apparently there are people that actually put their dogs on their tax returns as a dependent and then don't know how to get them off....hahahahahahaaa

hahaha..I love taxes too!  I am a CPA and have been working like a dog this week.  I am really looking forward to Monday but not looking forward to no more overtime pay!

Terri is right, the closer you get to the 15th, the crazier they are.  The firm I work for is very small but we have an established client base and only take new clients by referral.  They are mostly doctors.  Although, I have never seen anyone take their dog as a dependent, I have seen some other pretty crazy deductions people try to get away with!

My dad took care of my taxes a few weeks ago, but this year he made me sit with him while he did it, like maybe he thinks I might do my own next year. No way, he works for the IRS, so it's his job to take care of my taxes.
One tax season I worked in my uncle's office putting together tax returns. That was absolutely not fun, especially on the 14th when people who procrastinated kept calling to see if we were done with their taxes yet.

Not to sound rude, but it is not his job to do your taxes...it is his job to see that you are equipped to do your own.  That's what Dad's are for....[:)]

    Nigguysmom,

Yes I am a CPA and as weird as you b/c I love taxes!  I sat for the exam right before it went computerized when you had to take 4 exams in 2 days and had to pass at least 2 parts for any of it to count.  It was pure H-E-double hockeysticks!!!  It took me two sittings.  I haven't heard how the newer format is but I don't think you have to take as many at once now and I think you can take it more than 2 times a year.  I really suggest a reveiw course.  I took Becker and thought it was WELL worth it.  There were lots of things I didn't learn in school that I learned there!  Best of luck to you!  Let me know if I can be of assistance to you in studying or even just cheering you on!

The taxes are by far my favorite part.  It is look putting together the puzzle I have been working on all year!

I work in data recovery and this is one of our busiest times...obviously, clients have all their tax stuff on the computer and the drive crashes and they want us to rush to get their stuff back to them cuz it is tax stuff....but they never want to pay for rush service. LOL

As for me, I received my refund in February, and of course, have already spent it. [:D]

Yankee, I was thinking about you and wondering if you had your taxes done yet. In fact I almost posted a, Yankee are your taxes done yet thread.
I too do taxes, as a volunteer now, through the RSVP program and I'm happy to say the year is done with. I only do them one day a week...Wednesdays and as a volunteer that is enough for me.
