this is a terrible thing that happened to you, like out of a movie or something, and you have my sympathy and support, but i have to say: no no no, NOT A WASTE!!!!! all life experiences have value, whether they be joyous or hideous! yes, the guy turned out to be a real ass. and the worst kind of ass, who goes on and on and on without ever saying anything.. what did he plan to do, i wonder?
BUT.... to look at your time with him as a waste takes value away from YOUR life, and please don't allow him, or anyone else for that matter, to do that.
you will move on from this experience with wounds that, although they will heal, will leave scars. wear those scars with pride. every step that you take forward, every day that you wake up and get out of bed, every day that you walk the dogs is a testament to your strength. find power in this, somehow. and though this may not sound flippant to you right now, remember that without the definition of pain, we wouldn't know the feelings of joy.
and i swear, i almost wish i was you right now, sitting by the ocean[
