What are you afraid of?

1.) a tree falling on me (this is a major one for me, i just know it's going to happen some day.)

2.) losing my best friend on the planet.

3.)going blind, this is almost a tie with #2, it's only #3 because i could survive it as long as he was still around.

4.) large open bodies of water.

everyone laughs at my fear of trees falling on me, but it's come close to happening enough times that they no longer find it irrational. today actually afore mentioned bff and i were discussing the big oak across the road from my house. it has an orange T spray painted on it ( i think because it is scheduled for demolition), and he was laughing and saying sometime when i was walking the dog it will fall on me and the last thing i will see is that T and think "T is for tree".......yup, my friends are always there to reassure me....[8|]

I have a premonition that I am going to die in a wreck when I am 34.

And I have seen my own funeral. So, I know about how long I'm going to live. Oddly, enough, I'm not afraid of death, nor am I afraid of any man. I'm not afraid of sticking my hands in a 2,000 amp energized Main Switchboard. And the only reason for fearing falling is that it doesn't necessarily kill you. It can leave you maimed and in pain for the rest of your life. That bothers me worse than death.

What am I NOT afraid of is the bigger question. I'm scared of a lot of things!

    1. I have agoraphobia. Being out in public (even walking the dog) I feel like everyone is staring at me and I generally feel uncomfortable until I get back home.

    2. The dark. Pretty standard really, but I think I have it worse than most. I'll turn on the lights just to reach into the laundry room to get something. I have a recurring nightmare that I get up in the middle of the night and when I try to turn on the lights, they don't work. I walk through the house and NONE of the lights work. Sometimes they start "charging" like flourescent lights do before they come on, but they never turn on. The nightmare is extremely realistic and I always think I'm awake. At night when I turn off the lights I literally run and jump into bed and pull the covers over me.

    3. Being in the ocean- everything about it. I'm not a strong swimmer and have to hold my nose to go underwater. Seeing a wave coming sends me into a complete panic. I never know if I should go closer to it or further away. Each and every one is an ordeal for me. I also can't stand my feet sinking into the sand. It gives me the heebie jeebies like I can't even explain. I usually run out of the water squealing like a little pig. I'm also terrified of fishes biting me, jellyfish stinging me, or stepping on a crab and having it pinch me. And of course I'm terrified of sharks!

4.Speaking in front of people. Even sitting at the dinner table and having 4 people being all quiet and listening to me talk makes me a little nervous. When I last worked and had to introduce myself at orientation I had a panic attack and out of body type experience.

    5. Being murdered, kidnapped, or having someone hurt me. I'm completely paranoid and always looking over my shoulder.

    6. Getting in a car accident. When I'm in a car I'm usually praying and being the world's worst back seat driver.

    7. Having something happen to my husband. Because of all of my anxiety and phobias, I don't work, so losing him would be an even bigger loss than it is for most to lose a spouse.

    8. Having something happen to Gingerbread. I love him so much and I'm terrified that he's going to be taken away from me in some way.

    9. Snakes. I hate snakes!!! I have nightmares about the slithery things. *Big shiver* Yuck!

    10. Extreme claustorphobia. Being required to stay in a place for any given amount of time is a huge problem for me. I can barely sit through a movie without getting panicky. When I was working, the idea of having to be there for 8 hours was overwhelming and terrifying for me. Same with sitting in classrooms, church, or anything like that. Sometimes I even feel trapped by my own existance. It's hard to explain, but it freaks me out when I really think about it.

    11. Tidal waves. I have a recurring dream of that one too.

    12. Being possessed. I have an extreme fear of being possessed by demons or a bad spirit. I wish I had never, ever seen the movie Practical Magic. I had panic attacks for weeks afterward and it's one of my single biggest fears.

    13. Ghosts or spirits. I am terrified of them! If I ever saw or had an experience with one I think I might die of a heart attack. I've had panic attacks just thinking about them.

    14. The space under stairwells. I have this irrational fear of someone grabbing my legs from under one of the stairs. I've seen it in horror movies and it's bothered me ever since.

    15. Dolls, clowns, and ventriloquist dummies. I think they're some of the creepiest things in existance and I absolutely hate them with a passion.

    16. Antiques. I think they're creepy and frequently haunted.

    17. Death.

I am slightly claustrophobic and afraid of heights.  I have learned to control these two fears better with age, and even was able to walk out to the middle of the Golden Gate bridge and look over with the support of two friends!

June Bugs!!  Arghh!  They freak me out!  They have no predictable pattern to their flight, and they have those sticky legs if they land on you.  -shiver-
