Well, I got to go to my first dog show ever this past weekend, the IKC show in Chicago. It was awesome. We went Saturday and Sunday, and even my husband enjoyed himself. We found an organic dog treat company with all wheat-free treats (Sally is allergic to wheat) and had an AWESOME time checking out the different breeds benched there. I got to meet dogs that you just never see around here.
We have been researching breeds for a second dog when we get a house and ridgies are on the list--the ridgies that we met, and their people were awesome, friendly and helpful. I even had one ridige owner (not a breeder) give me her card and said to email her if I had any further questions about the breed.
We also discovered that my husband has a deep-seeded and previously unidentified whippet obcession. Roughly a third of our nearly 300 pics are of whippets. He wanted to see the whippets, pet the whippets, and even remembers the name of the whippet from that show that was on E! for a while "Dog Show Moms and Dads." I promised him that someday we can have a whippet.
I would have to say the some of the most outgoing and friendliest dogs were the Amstaffs. You'd just look at them and they would whiggle all over with joy. It was really funny watching them judged--the judge would approach ant the tail would start going.
All in all, I was extremely impressed with the behavior and temperments of just about every dog and human we met there....
