Any concerns, or just alot of love...

Kira, my Staffie, every evening, about 7-9pm, goes into a licking rampage, and will sit on my lap and lick my hand for approx 30-60 minutes, and if my hand isn't available, she'll lick any part of me or my fiancee... it isn't like we have food on us, she just likes to lick...she'll go get some water then come back and lick us some more... it lasts some nights for over 2 hrs... last night we had her get off my lap, and she proceeded to lick the carpet for a while, then found my hand and started again....
I don't think it's anything to worry about, and it's funny sometimes, but we just wanted to make sure it's okay..

A side note, we took her to the vet for this first time since we adopted her, and she actually loved the entire trip, she was wagging her tail, giving her pitbullish smile, and just loving life...

It sounds to me more like an obsessive behavior - which IS something to worry about. I have one particularly licky dog, and if I'd let her, that would be the ONLY thing she would EVER do. It looks like that could easily be the case for this dog too. I would re-direct her to do something else, maybe some OB commands, chew a bone, go for a walk, whatever - but I wouldn't let her keep on doing it. That's just me though.

Edit to add: my licky dog has a "quit" command that means stop licking RIGHT NOW!!!

I agree that this is a compulsive behavior and it should not continue.   It may be cute at times, but I can imagine that this would become very annoying, especially if it continues, and she won't stop.

I don't have any advice about what to do, but like dogslyfe suggested, its probably a good idea to redirect the behavior, or distract her with something else (like a walk.)

Someone else will probably be around with more adivce.
