    Idoggers in Texas..Question

This is my first spring in Texas. San Angelo to be specific and it is in west central Texas near Abilene. I am experiencing a horrid bout of allergies. Is this normal for it to begin this early? I am not used to my allergies until late March. This began in the last week of February.

I am not normally an allergy person..but when I moved here I was told this..."within 10 years you WILL have some allergies, bad ones"...now I laughed then...but now...almost 10 years in...I DO get them...lol! Not as bad as my hubby or kids, but they are there. Texas is an allergy state...

I would think that what your reacting too would determine the time frame. Perhaps you have acquired a new allergy....to something that blooms now, early spring?

You can check out the allergy levels for your area at this site.  It actually looks like Texas (or some parts) are very high right now.

Things are starting to kick up here in Southeast Texas.   I used to have terrible problems and then it stopped after I had my kids (very weird, but I had absolutely no problems-and I had seasonal allergies every year like clockwork) but now about 3 years later, they're slowly starting to reappear.

As Gina said, Texas is an allergy state...and yes they do start this early and even earlier!

My allergies have been kicking my butt for the past 2 weeks.  Unfortunately, allergy season starts early down here.

Right as I posted DH said, man, my nose is driving me so crazy I just want to cut it off! if that gives you any indication of how the rest of us Texans are feeling!  [;)]

I've lived in Southeast Texas all my life and never had any allergy problems..not much help, sorry!

It's especially bad this year because of the strong constant winds with no rain. If it rained, the pollen and stuff would get washed out of the air.

DW's allergies have been so bad that she went to the doctor for some relief.

Thank you everyone for explaining. I swore it was not a cold. Now I know it is undoubtedly allergies. Ugh. I asked my doctor if I could get a higher dose of zyrtec and he said yes. That seems to be helping.

DW has antibiotics and allergy relief meds but she is worn out between taking the meds and fighting the allergies. The meds help but once she can relax, she's really tired.

If it had been a cold, I would have caught it but I have no more than my normal sinus problems, which are so slight, I don't even medicate for them. I just hack it up and go on about my day.
