Daylight savings time already?

    Daylight savings time already?

Yep.  Got a letter from PG&E earlier this week and just heard it on the noon news.  Apparently the powers that be decided we need an extra month of daylight savings time so the clocks go ahead this weekend instead of the 2nd. Sunday in April and they go back in November instead of just before Halloween.  This wouldn't be such a major deal if so many of us didn't have computers, VCRs and other things with clocks that move ahead and back automatically - which means we're going to be doing some readjusting a few times. This has always been something that erks me. Why not just leave it be?

I was shocked to see that too. Here the sun will not come up until 8:15 once daylight savings begins. Sunset will be around 7:30.

Yeah, and things like email will be screwy as well - we've gotten no less than 12 emails on how to fix our work programs to make sure Outlook operates the way it should.... sigh. too much troubles for me!

[sm=dance.gif][sm=dance.gif][sm=dance.gif].........I love it!!! I know it'll be a pain switching the computers, but overall, I love it.   My whole mood changes when we move ahead one hour.  I can actually get home before it's dark and I seem to get so much more done.

I love it too!! Too dark and gloomy without it.

I'm psyched... I don't mind getting up in the dark, better to have a nice long day.

I was just reading about DST in the Farmer's Almanac. It said the primary stated reason for DST is energy conservation - moving an hour of daylight to the evening means people stay out & about later and don't use as much energy in their homes (this has been proven to reduce energy, though not by a whole lot). In the winter, the energy savings would be offset by the need to use more in the long dark mornings. I think the real reason Congress extended it this year is so people will shop more and businesses make more money... but that is fine by me, I love the longer days. The sun is going to be setting at 7:30 in early March!!

I haven't figured it out yet...but I think I will be walking Lily to school in the near dark...which isn't always great for safety....she starts late too at 8am...other schools start earlier like 7:30...

I am all for it!!  We have lived at the eastern edge in the central time zone for over 2 years now and I can't seem to get used to it getting dark an hour earlier than in Michigan.  I used to love it in Michigan (western edge of the eastern time zone), right before the summer solstice, it would literally still be dusk at 10:30 pm!!!  I couldn't believe the first winter we spent here when at 4:00 pm in December it was already dark!!

Oh yeah.  I'm just thrilled.  It was JUST getting to the point that I didn't have to go to work in total darkness.......yeah, it'll be kind of nice to still have a bit of daylight in the evenings after work, but it won't do me a heck of a lot of good until the windchill is above zero and the 5 feet or so of snow melts.  Basically, this sucks.

Well considering that most clocks these days are synched up with either cable or a wireless signal, I'm not too worried about it.  The only thing I'll probably have to change is the clock in my car.  Oh wait nevermind, I didn't change that last time so I'm good.

I just realized that daylight saving takes one hour out of my spring break[:@]  At this point I want all the spring break I could get, other then that I really would not care.

Wow Daylight savings already?? I have nothing against it, actually I enjoy longer days, when it gets dark so early I feel like half my day is gone. But, it does seem awful early. I haven't even heard anything about it either..wierd.....Good thing I checked this post..I would have been an hour behind!!or is it earlier??

Well, normaly it's not untill next month but some new law or something (sorry I didn't pay much attention to what it was) got it changed to this weekend.

The biggest worry seems to be that older clocks and computers will not recognize the change and have problems.

    Seems like it's a mini Y2K kind of thing.[8|]

My sons walk to school at 7:20. They will be walking in the dark again. I hate that. Besides them walking to school in the dark, I always have a hard time waking up until the sun rises. This from a morning person!
