    our society is going downhill

I was browsing the news just now and was totally disturbed to find that Britney Spears has her own "section"  on the homepage of the abc news website.  What does it say about our society when there are 8 different articles linked on this newspage BEFORE it even has links for current US and international news.

I am sorry but this is just another example of how our society is seriously going downhill....

I agree completely.... what has happened to people's priorities? I find the celebrity obsession that is rampant in our society to be quite disturbing........ I mean it's one thing to chuckle at the silly thing so-and-so did, or check out the dresses at the Oscars. But so many people spend more time discussing and contemplating Britney's life than their own!!

Another thing that baffles me is the fact that Britney Spears et al make a zillion times more money than people who save lives (doctors), give their time and effort to helping other people, research cures for diseases, etc. Why???

I completely agree, Shel.  Having Britney's news over the more important headlines is ridiculous, especially for ABC news.  Come on, I'd expect that trash on ET or some other entertainment news site ... but an entire section devoted to the pop slut?  Not a good thing.

Sad...really sad. There are far more things we could and should be worrying about.

Although, I must admit: Since I haven't heard much about her lately, I did check out the link for some new bald shots. I did get such a kick out of that whole fiasco. What a loon!! [:D]

I have almost no faith left in the news anymore.[&:] Especially Fox news, it's all about people who have no impact on my own life but only remind me of how glad I am that I'm not one of them.

*sight* too bad, I've almost lost all interest in TV in general. At least I still have idog to brighten my day[;)]

The Associated Press recently vowed to stop covering Paris Hilton stories... it lasted two days!
