I could have done so many things with my day....

I could have done so many things with my day....

There's wedding stuff to do, of course.  Always laundry and ironing.  I could have read a book or just flopped down on the couch in front of Law & Order reruns.

But am I doing ANY of those things?  No, of course not.

I woke up this morning, with a hangover no less, and decided that today MUST be the day for stripping the wallpaper in my kitchen.  I wasn't even planning on renovating the kitchen until this summer, but this morning I just decided I was sick of looking at it.  This wasn't even urgent - what in the name of anything sacred possessed me?  AND friends are coming over for dinner tonight!

I must be crazy.  But the cool wallpaper steaming thing that I bought last year and hadn't used yet works like a charm.

Valentine's Day is over and Cupid has gone on holiday, but watch out folks, the Spring Cleaning Troll is on his way to see you!

I hear ya sister!  Although, I can't imagine waking up with a hangover and thinking, I think I will strip the wallpaper today!

I have been having this major urge lately to paint!  I am going to really start pushing DHto help me get it done as soon as tax season is over.

Kate..are you SURE they didn't give you an injection or SOMETHING in the hospital to make you be crazy enough to strip your wallpaper today?[;)]

Doesn't sound like sane behavior in my opinion...especially when you have dinner guests coming![8D]

I do things like this too, Kate. It drives my husband crazy! He's always lecturing me about "mission creep" whereupon we start a project and it morphs into something entirely different along the way!

Yikes Kate, that sounds like a project.  I don't like projects like that.

I usually just sit down until an urge like that passes.  You're not right in da head, Kate!! ~L~

Wait...what kind of wallpaper stripping steamer thing??  How long does it take?  The house we are putting an offer in on has hideous wallpaper in every room of the house...it must come down.  Any tips would be most appreciated...

Kate, when you are finished there, do you want to come work on my house?  Any help would be appreciated, because I hate doing stuff like that.

Thanks for the votes of confidence you guys LOL.  I agree though, I am probably not right in the head.  [:D]

Jessica - It's a gizmo for removing wallpaper. It basically just steams it off.  You need to do a little scraping, but I removed half the wallpaper in my kitchen in just under an hour yesterday.  I got mine at a store here in England, but for reference I've found you one that is pretty much identical.  [linkhttp://www.amazon.com/Earlex-1200-Watt-Wallpaper-Stripper/dp/B000E8BH1E/ref=sr_1_3/104-3240801-3737515?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1173088249&sr=8-3]http://www.amazon.com/Earlex-1200-Watt-Wallpaper-Stripper/dp/B000E8BH1E/ref=sr_1_3/104-3240801-3737515?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1173088249&sr=8-3[/link]
I highly recommend one.  You need to use heat-proof gloves when using it but other than that, it's safe and SO much easier than any other method I'd ever used.  Another hour's work today and my kitchen will be wallpaper-free.  It does make a mess on the floor, but the paper comes off in long strips so nothing that can't easily be but into a trash bag.  Any small bits that tear off can be swept up or vacuumed.  ANY way you do it, removing wallpaper is a little messy.

Bevo - LOL sure, as long as I get to take breaks to play with the dogs. I'm not slave labour ya know.  [:D]

Lori - the Spring Cleaning Troll is the Yard Work Gnome's second cousin by marriage.  [sm=biggrin.gif]

If it makes you feel any better, we decided to turn a spare bedroom into an office. We tore out the closet, cut a hole in the wall to the living room for french doors, took off the old bedroom door, put up drywall and started building a window seat and wall shelf. [:D]

    ETA: All this weekend....
