Our primary purpose is to stay free from lip balm and to help others achieve the same freedom.

Chapstick also has alcohol in it.

Lips are a good a hydration gague: dry lips = drink more water.

That said, I like Burt's and carmex.

I won't use anything with petroleum in it.

I like Burt's Bees, and Badger Balm (which is my favorite, thus far).

So wax and petroleum dry out your lips? I heard peppermint does, which is why I'm not so keen on the Burt's Bees (but the honey one sounds good). What lip balm doesn't have wax (any kind of wax) or petroleum as a base, aside from the vitamin E?

I am a huge fan of the Burt's Bee's lip balms. I swear, the stuff is addicting. I go crazy if I don't have it with me all the time!

I LOVE Burt's Bee's! I think it works the best, but thats just me I also like Carmex, and there is a good Chapstick that is Medicated its in a light blue tube and that works pretty well too.

This is what I use: [linkhttp://www.merryhempsters.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc]Merry Hempsters (click here for link)[/link]  ...available at my local health food store.

ETA: They have quite a few different lip balms - some vegan, some with SPF - the one I use is [linkroduct_Code=LB004&Category_Code=BALM]Certified>http://merryhempsters.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MH&;Product_Code=LB004&Category_Code=BALM]Certified Organic Hemp Lip Balm Mandarin-Orange (link)[/link]  [color=#000000]...and I don't use any "cooling" lip balms in the winter.[/color]

vitamin E is fabulous AND it's natural, AND it still makes your lips shiny.
I love it and will wear it by itself OR with lipstick.

I've become a Burt's Bee's fan as well.  Honestly, it does not seem to dry out my lips as a result of use like some others had in the past.  I can stop at any time.........

Another Burt's Bees fan here - the honey balm - I find I need to use it less than other kinds.

I know this is a weird thought process, but as a furniture finisher, I can't agree that wax could dry out skin or anything else. Wax is a sealant and repels moisture - it is not absorbent and doesn't mix with water. Burt's balm is made of natural oils and beeswax... both are supposed to seal in moisture. The function of moisturizers and lip balm is not to moisturize, but to form a seal or barrier to prevent the skin/lips from drying out... which is what natural skin oils and sweat glands normally do.

maybe it doesn't dry lips out, but if someone's lips are dry and they put a product with wax in it on their lips, wouldn't that be sealing dryness?

Bonne Bell Lip Smackers - now there was an addiction.

What are Lip Smackers made of?
Castor oil - A natural oil obtained from the seeds of Ricinus Communis. This ingredient gives emolliency and gloss to the lips.

Beeswax - A natural purified wax obtained from the honeycomb of the bee, Apis Mellifera. This ingredient gives structure and rigidity to Lip Smackers.

Cetyl Acetate - This is an ester of cetyl alcohol and acetic acid. This ingredient gives emollience and gloss to the lips. It is also a conditioner of dry, chapped lips.

Candelilla Wax - A natural wax obtained from various plant species of Euphoriaceae.

Flavor/Fragrance - These are comprised of both natural and artificial ingredients, all of which are GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) for use in cosmetic and food products. These ingredients give Lip Smackers their characteristic flavor and aroma.

Polybutene - A polymer which is made up of a mixture of butenes. This ingredient adds gloss and wearability to the product.

Acetylated Lanolin Alcohol - The acetyl ester of lanolin alcohol. This is derived from lanolin, a by-product of the wool industry. This is a very good conditioner for dry, chapped lips.

Mineral Oil - A refined liquid obtained from petroleum. This ingredient adds emolliency to the lips.

In their FAQ, they don't say products are sold in the US.  They are in UK, Canada and the United Arab Emirates, but not US.  Unless I missed something.

Wow there's a blast from the past! Used to get a new one every school year. They usually hadn't worn out by the next year, but it was a tradition! Bubblegum was my "signature flavor"!
