Banded Duck

On Nov. 11, '06 my son killed a banded redhead duckThis is his 4th one to kill in about 13 yers of hunting.  At the time he didn't know where to send information, and besides, two had bands that were worn down and numbers couldn't not be read.  this time a game warden buddy of his came out to check h unters 9he doesn't even ther with Ron any more as he knows Ron is always leagal) and he told Ron where to send the information.

Today Ron got a certificate, $5 (a big surprise) and information about the duck.  It had been banded on Aug. 12, 06 at lake Russel in Saskatchewan, Canada.  The nearest town is something like Meotask (if I copied down correct as he read it to me.)  Was some relaly interesting information about the USA, Canada and Mexicao all working together to  identify bird flight paths, dangers they face, etc.

We thought it so interesting to think about that duck flying 2000 miles or so in 3 months.  Ron said it was one of the fattest he had ever killed, so it ate well on it's way down.

By the way, i caught a tagged redfish once, sent in the information and learned it had been released just about a year earlier just about a m ile--or less from where i caught it.
