It is just tooo cold

It's been way to cold here for my liking tonight it's -5 that's with windchills  without the windchill it would be 9 so it's starting to get warmer. Hopefully it will keep getting warmer so I can take Blue out for his usual walks without freezing my butt off.

We've had a bit of a warming trend too with the actual temp staying in the + at least.

I've gotta laugh at this thread tho....I remember a year ago someone just blasting those of us who didn't do daily walks regardless of the weather!  And I couldn't get through to that person that hello?  If my dogs, off lead, turn around and head for the door to go back in before we are out for 5 minutes that CLEARLY they think it's too cold for a walk too.  I'll be the first to admit I don't enjoy freezing my fanny off, but I'm usually willing to bundle up and take them out.  I draw the line at the really cold temps when the wind is bending me over backwards though.

And here's a bit of sort of OT musing.....my dogs really seem to adjust to whatever exercise level they get.  They seem to KNOW that bitter cold weather is better for curling up on blankets than going out to romp.  Now they won't normally turn the walk down, altho they've shortened a good many, but in the really cold weather, they seem to just get that not only isn't it a good day to spend a lot of time playing in the yard, but it isn't a good day to go climbing through the snow.  And despite all the need for exercise cautions, they seem to adjust themselves to the weather.  When it's really, really cold like it was last weekend, not one of them was hyper or antsy in the house.  They surely had a real need for the exercise, just like we all do, but they were all calm and very well behaved INside, laying around doing nothing.  They absolutely know the difference between acceptable OUTSIDE and acceptable INside......

Us to, it's been pretty nice actually. It's 18 right now and (WOWEE) we're going to be in the 30's this weekend!!!!!

OMG, I remember that thread from last year as well... It was ridiculous!  It's SO easy for someone who lives in California to shun those of us in the north when it comes to winter walks.   Factor in that we all have our own thresholds for extreme discomfort (pain!) and physical limitations, of course there are going to be days when we just can't do it - "we", meaning dogs and people alike!  It was so bad last weekend, I actually considered getting my fat Lab a coat...
