No the pictures were very pretty, I'm jealous! Is the school right by your house??? It looked so close to it in the pics, how neat.

While I am there I will have to take one of your doggies too[:D]..I've always wanted a German Shepherd!

Put the kettle on!!! I will be there in about 5 mins to collect all that snow [:D]

If that school was here, where I live it would have been brought and converted into some ones home by now....I know I would love a place like that!!

The school house is about 300 feet from the edge of my house.  It is privately owned...belongs to some folks downstate who come up once in a blue moon and basically use it as a "summer cottage".  Some uncles of the owner were there for a couple days, cut the grass, went fishing, came back with the boat on a flatbed.....came back long enough to fix the wheel and took back off a couple weeks later, and the actual owners were up long enough to cut the grass one day.  THEY have 3 german shepherds so I like them.

The snow you can have...but not the puppers.  Sorry, they own my heart now!

Why don't you all come visit me in Australia! We've had a pleasantly mild summer that's just wrapping up with some perfect beach days. Only thing is, the ocean feels like melted ice because our East Australian Current is being weird. But if you don't mind invigorating ocean swims, that's okay. [:)]

Penny has only seen snow once, and she didn't notice because it was just spitting down along with the hail and rain. We used to live in what's considered one of the coldest places in the country ignoring Tassie and the mountains, but it's nothing compared to those temperatures. *puts on her winter gear because just thinking about it is making her cold*.

I'm never complaining again. It's been cold here (my definition of cold), but not like that. In fact, I don't even have a coat. I lost it last winter and haven't replaced it. To me, it's FREEZING here in Sacramento sometimes, but when I listen to all of you I realize that living in Cali my whole life has made me a wimp. [:D

I went to San Diego in December and people were still wearing shorts and flip flops. Amazing.

Last year, I went to PA for the first time and I could not believe my eyes. Everything looked SO different. The houses were different, the stores, people even put gas in our car for us! Nobody had fences and everyone had LAND! It snowed and I had never seen snow as it was falling before and I had definitely never seen everything blanketed in it before. It was gorgeous, but I was shivering the whole time. My flight back left out of Maryland and that was the coldest weather I had ever experienced. I wanted to cry. It was soooooo cold. Inhumane cold. Evil, Satan kinda cold. COLD.

    Right now it's -5 F and a wind chill of -17.  Tomorrow will be 6 !  That's 6 ABOVE zero.  That'll be niiiiiiice !

Baily wants soooo badly to play outside but at these temps he starts doing the hoppy dance after 2 minutes.  His feet are frozen and if he could hold them ALL up and still play...he would.   Yesterday he went out to potty...ran around the yard once...squatted to poop and lifted one front foot off the ground.  I actually laughed....I felt bad though.  Wednesday we are going booty shopping.

Yup, here too - a warmup to a high of 6 above. Right now this is what weather.com has to say about our area:

The low is -22 tonight. Brrrr! Good thing I have Rupert to keep me warm. [:)]

It's a heat wave - going to be 11 degrees today!!  Although it is only -3 right now.  Yeah!!!

I wish Charlie would wear booties!  He hates them, I put them on and he immediately sits down and will not move and just tries to eat them off.  I even tried putting them on him outside to show him how warm they keep his feet and he won't have anything to do with them.

You're not alone. I think 50 is cold, too. No wonder the rest of the country thinks Californians are nuts.

    Spoiled nuts.......[;)]

the last couple of weeks have been really cold for us. nothing like the neg. temps mentioned but cold to us nonetheless. i am starting to hate it! i dont know how you guys live with the negative temps. i would go crazy. [:)]
    • Gold Top Dog
As far as dealing with the sub-zero temps, I don't love it but I can deal with it.  I somehow feel challenged by it!  Like, how good can I get at layering/dressing so that I can manage the park for two hours?  And I always feel victorious and hearty when I've done it!   Oh and let's be real ;people - how can one properly appreciate 75F unless they've lived through -20F??  The full-on change of seasons keeps us all in check.

    I hear you Christine (labcrab)...

All I thought about this morning was it being July and walking Charlie in shorts and flip flops.  That's how I keep my sanity.  In five short months it will be 90 degrees and our AC will be on full blast.  How can one appreciate that if you don't get this every once in a while.

Glenda, I have an idea......buy a snow blower......we used to have one before we moved to the south.[;)]
