I think the correct term is "colorectal cancer".
It's actually not, she had anal cancer, which is different then colorectal cancer. It is treated entirely differently as well. With anal cancer we follow the NIGRO protocol and patients get chemo and radiation, no surgery usually. Colorectal cancer the treatment is surgery first usually.

I totally agree that he is a jacka$% for revealing it to the press.
Edit: anal cancer is typically squamous in origin and colorectal is adenocarcinoma.
