I live right outside of DC Billy.  I think Jan 1, 2007 there were already 2 or 3 murders by 6am.  Pretty good, they were on pace for over 700 this year.  It slowed down a bit though.

I lived in Mannassas as a kid.  Had a job offer there a few years ago.  Money was good but not really an area I want to live in.

You'd never recognize it now Billy.  It's all one sprawling metroplex past Manassas and into Haymarket.

which is more than I can say for countless american hunters that come up her every fall and shoot at whatever they see in the bush, and then whine when they get caught poaching.

Countless American poachers?  Really?  There ought to be a law...

Over the years we have found 3 moose dead from gunshot wounds in the bush that we have tracked because americans have shot them from the road and been too lazy to track them themselves.

How can you possibly know that a moose you found dead was shot by an American from the road?  Not only once but three times?  Hmmmmm?

I know the importance of locking up my guns and keeping trigger locks on them at all times.

I know the importance of keeping mine unlocked and loaded.  You see, we keep guns for different reasons.

I know that keeping rounds locked up in a seperate place is important too.

    Not to me.

and you lie in wait for your tyrranical government to come pounding on your door looking to take away your guns.

I think you are capable of better debate than this, so I will let it go.

Why then do race car drivers wear helmets?

Cars ain't motorcycles.  You will find seat belts in cars.  Even in race cars.  There are no seat belts on motorcycles.

Oh I guess its because of that tyrannical government.

    See above.

Perhaps a lot of CSI watching? I hear it's pretty true to life some of it...[;)
I used to watch it tons myself until I joined the BRING GRISSOM BACK Boycott of 2007.

We knew they were shot by americans because they came bragging to our campsite about how they shot the moose right out of their trucks.  When questioned they told us that they didn't bother with tracking.  This was the case in the second incedent as I was there and was involved in the conversation myself.  The other two incedents were similar to my understanding, but I admit, I only helped with the tracking.

What do you use your guns for?  Obviously if you don't want to tell me, thats fine, but I have seriously never thought of using mine for anything other than hunting.

Ummm...  so helmets only help when you wear a seatbelt too?  Ya lost me there.

So, they are unethical hunters, they break the law, then they go up to a complete stranger and brag about their antics?  Forgive me for being a little skeptical.

What do you use your guns for?

I don't hunt much anymore but I do hunt.  I am an accomplished silhouette (handgun), benchrest and trap shooter.  I used to be a certified pistol (home defense) instructor.  To answer your question, the last thing I used a gun for was to shoot a muskrat in my pond.  I think I mentioned I own 23 guns.  Some of them have never been fired so some of them I don't use for anything.  I have employed a firearm one time to stop a crime against my person.  I was fully prepared to shoot but fortunately just brandishing the gun was enough to control the situation.  The kid who tried to rob me had a knife.

We were talking about motorcycles.  You said, as I recall, that race car drivers wear helmets.  I was pointing out that there is a difference between cars and motorcycles and the seat belt analogy came in there.

Cars and motorcycles is apples and oranges.
