My little Peanut is doing really well. They took her off the ventilator 2 days ago so she doesn't have that tube in her throat anymore! YAY! It also means that she can cry!! She didn't cry when she was born because they intubated her so fast so the first time I heard her I started bawling right along with her! She is on CPAP now which just helps keep her lungs from collapsing, but it is just prongs in her nose and she is breathing on her own!
I got to hold her for the first time the other day and give her a bath which was really nice but kinda scary at the same time because she is so small. She lost a little weight and got down to 1lb 14ozs, but as of Monday she was back up to 2lbs 2ozs.
She had to have a blood transfusion yesterday because she wasn't producing enough red blood cells and her oxygen saturation wasn't high enough. But she is better now.
She had an echocardiogram on Monday and she has a small hole in her heart which is really common in preemies. They said that it will probably close on it's own, but if it doesn't she will need surgery to close it.
They took her off the special formula she was getting and started giving her breast milk with lipids mixed in to help her gain weight. She is up to 1/2 an ounce every 4 hours!
I think that is about it. I'll take some pics tonight when I go see her so you guys can see her little face without the little goggles and tape covering her up!
