Saveastray,  Thanks for the offer if he comes up with any thing.  I didn't think of it being a buffering issue.  But, if he does do something to the computer to help it move along, if that is the issue - and not that they are just being "still" - then he would have to write down the instructions in verrrrry simple terms - I am not a computer whiz by any stretch!

Chasza, this should be pretty simple for you: there's not a lot you can do! He said (at least for us) it's definately a buffering issue because we're losing sound as well. What I was dissapointed to learn is that you don't recover what's happening in that lost period, it's not like it's delayed, but rather just lost [&:]. He said we *might* be able to help things by shutting everything down and rebooting the machine, and keeping all other windows closed except that one. We have DSL, but it's the lowest (read: cheapest) option, which might be what you have as well.

Saveastray,  Yep, you're right - it is a buffering issue.  I was out of the room, came back to one drinking - again very still, with just a couple of head movements.  I was determined to wait it out and watch her move.  I did catch one moving awhile ago.  But, this time, she just disapperared.  There one second, gone the next.  So, no walking away - so like you said, it was just lost.  Mine isn't the cheapest option, so I wonder if others are "losing" footage as well.    I suppose I could try it w/o dog forum on the other link, and I might do that in about an hour.  Thanks for telling me what it was.  And, yeah, that was simple for me to do: nothing!

WOW....you guys seeing the big male drinking? cool!
    • Gold Top Dog
Yeah saw him drink and drink and drink and drink. I swear that pond went down an inch, his belly swelled too. It was neat watching that and the females that came earlier.

I find it facinating watching the sky change too.

Hmmm are those baboons or monkeys in the distance?

    edit:
OK, now I know im tired, for baboons are monkeys.[:)]

I kinda got to see him drink.  I was in another room, but did get to see him drink from afar.   I don't know yet, but it is possible my link works better if I'm not online with this forum at the same time.

OK, so I'm seeing about 10 seconds of stuff.   Everything's really far away, I don't see any water, and if I try to keep it playing it only plays those last 10 seconds over again for me.  This doesn't sound like what you guys are seeing.  What am I doing wrong?  This is really neat, btw, and I want to be able to see it. [&:]

Georgie I am getting the same playback, they moved the camera and now it is stuck? Oh well, guess that is a sign for me to head to bed, seeing the same monkey run up the tree gets boring :)

    Night night.

they can move the camera...looks like they have it trained on the troop of Baboons right now...they will probably turn it back to the water hole later. They moved it a couple of times last night as well...when the big male lion was around. Make sure you refresh from time to time to make sure you are getting a live shot!

    georgie,

There are several different cameras, so the lion drinking the water was from a different camera.  I don't think it is "playing" right now.  I was just there, and it didn't seem to connect and play, but did the thing you mentioned.  I know it was 'down' a few minutes ago, so they might not be in "play" mode on the camera right now.

I don't know this, it's just a guess.  But, where the lions were earlier was definately from a different camera or at least from a different angle.  I'm thinking it's just not "on" right now.  I have had some buffering issues (as saveastray explained to me), but I could refresh and get a different scene at times, so I'm not completely sure that it's their camera as it could be on my end, but that's my best guess

Edited: I think what is happening is that we aren't being fully connected.  It keeps "preparing media", then connecting, but then going back to "preparing media", and it's not "playing".  So, apparently, they just aren't actively "on" right now.  Maybe a satellite or issue on their end?

The camera angle is different right now and there are two packs of zebras.  Man those things are wagging there tales like crazy!
    • Gold Top Dog
It's back!  Thanks guys.  Yep, that definitely was a different camera/angle.  I haven't seen much yet, just some birds but I'll keep watching.[:D]

I explored the website a little and they have a forum where they discuss technical issues, and they did mention there were some problems, which apparently occur now and then. So if you're seeing weird stuff (like we did last night, I saw the repeating baboons as well!) just check out the forum and see if it's a camera issue rather than your own computer before making yourself crazy! The site I went to is africam.com, then you go to the left side and they have a lot of different cameras. The watering hole is the streaming site under Africa.

I'm watching right now, is 8:30 am (4:30 there) and it seems that  behind the camera (when is facing the pond) there is houses like 100 yards away, i know this because they were moving the camera around 360 degrees, so if you live in one of those houses you have lions 100 yards away from them drinking water
