    Changing Banks

Well, I am finally going to do the dreaded task of changing banks.  I have been with a small bank here for years and actually used to work there.  They have always given me personal service and helped me when I needed it.  They have been bought twice now in the past year and I have become more and more unhappy with them.  The online banking sucks and is not in real-time which is a necessity in this day and age.  They have posting errors all the time that cause your online banking to look negative and that is what the debit card balance is driven off of and this always happens on a weekend so you are left with no money for the weekend.  They have deleted our debit cards from our accounts more than once.  Sometimes when I transfer money online b/w my accounts there the transfer will not happen and will drop off the face of the earth and leaves me having to clean up a mess that never should have happened in the first place.  I am FED UP!

So I have been shopping around and I really think I might switch to Wachovia.  I am also considering Compass but Wachovia has more to offer and meets all the needs I can think of as well as my future needs with some investments etc.  Does anyone bank there and have any thoughts about their customer service, how happy you are with their online banking etc etc?

I want to be able to see all of my pending debit card transactions online even if it is a week before they clear.  Right now I can't see anything that happened at restaraunts because they go through as credit cards and the system is not in real time.  It is SUCH a ;pain in the butt changing banks so if people have banked with them and hated it, I will look into some different places.

I've been with the same credit union for many years and love them, so I've never thought about changing.  I certainly would if I was going thru what you are though.  I have several friends who switched to Wachovia and have been very happy with them.  I know switching is a huge pain, but in the long run it'll probably be worth it.

We have our main checking/savings accounts with Wells Fargo and I  have my own personal checking account with Bank of America and both of them are really, super fast with getting transactions up on-line regardless of whether the card is used as a debit or a credit card. I can take DGS to Jamba Juice for a smoothie and 15 min. later I can be at home checking, and it's already posted as pending. For us, changing our main bank would be a real PITA because we have four checks that go in as direct deposit and a couple of things that are automatic withdrawal ... I think it takes a good two months at least before they get that officially changed. The only thing that takes awhile is if I order something on-line or out of a catalog and  they don't charge the card until it actually ships.

I use Wachovia & Chase Banks for various accounts.  Wachovia is wonderful, everything always runs smoothly, I would reccomend then to all my friends.

Want to be up front on the fact that I work for Wells Fargo, but still, have to say, their online banking is top notch -very much real time.

Actually I've found BofA's to be much faster.

I have WF, and have since I was old enough to bank [;)
They've never given me reason to switch, but DH works for BofA so he likes/uses them.

The Keep the Change thing at BofA is kinda cool...I think that's who does that.
