    Who has satellite radio?

If you do, which one, Sirius or XM?
    What made you purchase it?

We have XM in all of our vehicles, I love it.............

Bought the hubby a Sportster and Sirius.

Why? two reasons...HOWARD STERN...and NFL. XM has neither...and their station names are lame as well.

I love  1st Wave...best station out there. Backspin is also cool...and of course, Howard.

DH has been in love with it since we got it. The radio he has displays song titles and artists, on ALL stations...and you can set it to alert when certain teams or songs are on it, which is awesome. It also has a Tivo like rewind so you can hear a song over again!

    It's greatness.

My hubby got XM for the sports channels.  He prefers college football to NFL, and it also has PGA (booooring!) and NHL for him.  Sirius has none of these.  Kind of stinks that you can't get everything you would want on one system.  You should probably look at the channels each radio offers and see which best matches your interests.
I don't mind the funny names.  Easy to remember the names of my favorite channels- Fred, Ethyl and Lucy.
My husband has an hour+ commute, and it really makes his time driving fly by.

    Here's a site with a side-by-side comparison of the two: [linkhttp://www.radiosatellite.org/]http://www.radiosatellite.org/[/link]

I have xm in my car. I have it because  my sister got it for the car when it was hers. The radio antenna wasn't working perfectly, and rather than paying to get that repaired, she decided she would rather get an xm. I think her new car has it built in or something so she let me keep the unit when she got the new one, and she had paid for a year of service, so I have it for a few more months. I love it, and i'm definitely renewing it.

    No SquiZZ for you?[:D
That would be 48, and in addition to the ones you mentioned, that would be my favorite, also.

BUT, you can really jingle 24 hours a day with the holiday stations.[sm=crazy.gif]

Sirius carries NHL games...or at least they have since we had ours.

Oh yes....they also had a bunch of NCAAF this year...tons actuallyThey also just got NASCAR (lame).

I believe the only thing XM has sole rights on is MLB. Since I follow the home team that's not a big deal to us.

    Sirius is WAY better!

<--------  Owns stock in sirius. [;)]

We have XM in both our cars. They are both built-in units that came with the cars, and I love it!

Previously we had Sirius in our last vehicle, but it was not built-in and I hated it. I actually like both Sirius AND XM, it was just the radio unit itself that I hated. It was big and clunky, and the suction cups barely worked. I think the new Sirius units are slimmer, and probably work better, but ours was the old school one from a few years ago! At home I can either listen to Sirius on our TV or go to the XM website and listen to music on the computer with our account.

I love having satellite radio for my loooong and boring commute to work. It makes the drive go much faster, and I like all the choices. I can listen to anything I am in the mood for. [:)]

Sirius.  They gave a good deal (like free for three months) when i bought the car.

I bought my BF the Sirius Sportster last xmas because he's a big Howard fan - also likes the NFL games - and he drives a lot. The only downside is he wishes they had MLB too, because we can't get his team (Yankees - *sob*) on regular radio and he loves to listen to baseball. It was great on our trip from MA to NE. I'm pretty boring in my tastes, I like the hits station, LOVE the Pulse, and flip around the rock stations, plus it has two NPR stations (yay).

my wife's car has xm built into the radio. we listened some for the free months they gave us. i think there was something wrong with it though, because we would loose signal at random. anyways, neither of us has a really long commute and we dont really spend a lot of time in the car otherwise. so we couldnt justify the extra cost.

if either of us had a long commute that might be different.

if you have directv, the music channels are now xm radio channels. i still listen to xm cafe sometimes, and of course the 80's channel. but i think i prefer our local npr station to xm cafe for eclectic music.

never had any experience with sirius, so i cant comment on it.

ok so i dont have satellite radio, i listen to my fave classic rock station online (streaming) because i moved too far north and i'm the kind of jerk that still's listens to old records. my mom has sirius on her t.v. though and i like it, but can never seem to find just one station that stays consistently good for more than 10 minutes. i think even if i had satellite radio i would listen to good old normal radio more.

Unfortunately satellite does that in certain areas... it's a better signal than terrestrial radio but it can still be obscured by the landscape at times.
