    Dad not Well

My dad got the test results last week and it wasn't the news we were expecting.Dad has  Lou  Gehrig's disease for which there is no cure. The lifespan for it is 3 years, but i saw a man on T.V. today who is 3 years younger than me has had it  6 years. It  hasn't progressed as much in him as it has dad.Dad can only get around with a walker, talking is a little slurred. We will have to be patient with him  and hope for the best.He has an appoiuntment with a doctor on Thursday I. found a drug online that apparently slows the progress  of Lou Gehrig's modestly Mom is going to ask the doctor about it.Fritz is not stupid,he senses dad is not well and sticks pretty close to him.Da dis sellin ghis tractor, can't do snow or grass anymore,i will do a few lawns around her in the Spring and a couple of driveways for snow  when there is some to shovel.

I am so sorry your family got this news. My uncle had a form of ALS, and I know how hard it is. My prayers are with you through this struggle.

So sorry to hear about your Dad and wishing your family the best. I dated a fellow quite a few years back and his Dad had that. I'm not sure now for how many years, but it did seem to me that he lived with it for quite some time. He was in a wheelchair and needed help with a lot of things, but with family support he did quite well.

Oh, Barry, I am so sorry! My father had ALS too, he was only 27yrs old that was in 1958. They have come a long way since then. It will be hard on all of you ,you will be in my prayers. Please remember and remind any and all people involved in his care that the brain is an independent muscle and is not affected by ALS, so he will be aware of all that is being said. He will need rubs, and scratches too.
