What's Your Song?

    • Gold Top Dog
Mine and hubby's is Blind Faith by Warrant

    Darling I know you're sleeping
But there's something that I've just got to say
Wonder if you'll hear me while you're dreaming
You make a lifetime out of every day
Thanks to you now I know
All my dreams can come true

Blind faith in you, oh yeah,
I got blind faith in you

Your eyes keep things well hidden
Just a hint of what you're holding inside
And the first day that I met you
I consider the first day of my life
Thanks to you now I know
All my dreams can come true

    CHORUS
Blind Faith in you, oh yeah.
I've got blind faith in you
And I'm not sure that I deserve
    A woman so true,
But I love, that you think I do

With You and Faith, beside me
    I'm feelin' stronger every day

Ours is The Girl from Ipanema (the original Stan Getz/Astrid Gilberto version, thank you very much

My DH loves this song.  It is totally sexy.  I got to see Stan Getz one time before he died!

Our song, however, is Wonderful Tonight, Eric Clapton.  Before we were married my DH serenaded me (karaoke) with this every chance he got!  Whenever I hear it, my heart still melts!

I Luv the Valley, Oh! by Xiu Xiu. It's not a love song (the guy actually wrote it right after his best friend committed suicide) but for some reason listening to it makes us both really emotional. Kind of a weird song to get emotional to, but eh. We're weird.

That's a pill and you've got to take it
That's a pill that you've got to take
I won't rest until you take it
That's a heart that you made
That's a heart and the both of you made it
And I won't rest until I break it
    It's histroic de la famile
    It's histroic de la FAM
And I won't rest until I forget about it
    I won't rest until I don't care
I won't rest until I forget about it
La La La La La La La
That's a razor and you will make a threat
That's a razor make million billion threats
And I won't rest cuz I heard it all before
My behind is a beehive, there's a buzz in my backside
My behind is a beehive and I won't rest
    while you break my will
    Je tâime the valley
    Je tâime the valley OH!!!
I am an orphan de la valley
And I won't rest until I forget about it
    I won't rest until I don't care
LA LA LA LA LA LA LA

Xiu Xiu is a weird band. [8D]

We had wanted Wonderful tonight for our first dance at our wedding, but the band didn't have the sheet music, so we had to pick another one quick and we picked Just you and I by Crystal Gayle and Eddie Rabbit. I'm glad, it really fit us at the time.

    Just you and I,
    sharing our love together.
    And I know in time,
we'll build the dreams we treasure.
We'll be all right, just you and I.

    Just you and I
    Just you and I

    Sharing our love together

    and I know in time,
    and I know in time,

we'll build the dreams we treasure.
    And we'll be all right,
    just you and I.

    CHORUS:
And I remember our first embrace,
that smile that was on your face,
    the promises that we made.
And now your love is my reward,
and I love you even more,
    than I ever did before.

    Just you and I
    Just you and I

We can  and trust each other,

    with you in my life,
    with you in my life,

    they'll never be another.
    We'll be all right,
    just you and I.

    Chorus

We made it you and I

We've been together 24 years, married almost 20, We made it him and I.

We sort of have two I guess. Our first dance at our wedding was to Chris de Burgh's "Lady In Red" because DH likes that and likes me in red, but I don't care for the song, so our other one is Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl", which we also played at the wedding but was sort of a private "our song".
    • Gold Top Dog
DH's choice for our song and this was, I think, our first dance, is "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash (and covered by Jimmy Buffet).  We also had "The Long and Winding Road" by the Beatles.

We danced to The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra at our wedding.  If anyone would like to hear the actual band here's the link---

At the wedding of my wife's daughter, people were dancing up a storm. The dj played requests. I requested "White Wedding" by Billy Idol and the dance floor cleared out. Danged ole long-haired head-banger making a request like that! What was I thinking.

Don't feel too bad Ron.  My husbands band got up at our wedding and played Squeeze Box by the Who.  Let's say the guests were a little confused going from the nine piece brass band to that. . .[8|]

DH and I payed for our own wedding and had it in this old historical mansion in Fort Worth that didn't allow dancing so we didn't have a song that we danced to.  There was a song though by Blue Ocotber called Callin You that we both heard at different times and it was us!  So I guess you could say that is one of the many fitting songs we have.  There is actually another one by Blue October that fit some of our situations as well.

    Lyrics:
    There's something I can't quite explain
I'm so in love with you
    You'll never atke that away
And if i've said it a hundred times before
    Expect a thousand more
    You'll never take that away

    So expect me to be
    Calling you to see
If you're okay when I'm not around
    Asking "do you love me"
I love the way you make it sound
    Calling you to see
Do I try too hard to make you smile?
    To make us smile

    [Chorus]
I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping or you're dreaming
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me
I can't believe you actually picked me

I thought that the world had lost it's sway
    It's so hard sometimes
Then I fell in love with you
    Then came you
    And you took that away
    It's not so difficult
The world is not so difficult
    You take away the old
    Show me the new
And I feel like I can fly when i stand next to you
So while I'm on this phone
    A hundred miles from home
I'll take the words you gave me and send them back to you

    I only want to see
If you're okay when I'm not around
    Asking "do you love me"
I love the way you make it sound
    Calling you to see
Do I try too hard to make you smile?
    To make us smile

    [Chorus]

    "Cause she's playing all night.
    And the music's all right.
    Momma's got a squeezebox
    Daddy never sleeps at night.

    Come on and squeeze me.
    Come on and squeeze me.
Come on and love me like you do.
I'm so in love with you..."

Ours was a renaissance wedding at Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie. So, there was minstral music playing.
