Anybody remember those hideous silver aluminum trees that came out in the 50s? The ones that had a color wheel light at the bottom that made the tree look yellow, then blue, then red? My parents actually bought one of those and a few months ago I saw one in a catalog (50s nostalgia I guess) that was up around $400. I could NOT believe it.
I never had one, but I soooooooo love retro and mid-century modern furnishings. That's my real passion. I collect all sorts of vintage/retro things and my livingroom is mostly all retro decorated. If you go on Ebay, those old alluminum trees sell for a pretty penny these days. I have a small version from Target that a friend gave me and I put it out every year. Very retro!
But then again, all my kitchen appliances are pink! Black & white checked floor, etc....you get the picture. Dh has learned to live with the pink and just shakes his head when I get another box from Ebay!
We'll put our tree up this weekend. I went fake a few years back and am glad I did. So much less hassle, and I can practically put it up like an umbrella!
