    college football fans ?

i know there is some controversy over whether or not michigan should be playing for the national title. so here is my ponderance...

assuming florida beats osu (unlikely i know), and michigan beats usc (seems like a good possibility). does michigan have any claim to the national title? even if it is just to share the title?

i cant believe no one wants to comment on a controversial subject. that just isnt like y'all! [:D]

If that scenario plays out then floridia is the nat. champ.  Michigan lost to OSU which makes me think that it's an easy call to make.  Just my opinion.

but florida and michigan would both be 1 loss teams. michigan's only loss would be to osu (so far unbeaten). while florida lost to a team that is now ranked outside the top 10.

i think if the above scenario plays out, then michigan would have a ligitimate claim to a share in the title. many people think they should be ranked #2 right now anyways.

Unfortunatley there would be no sharing of the title . . . if florida somehow, by some fluke, manages to scrape together a win agains OSU, they would be Nat. Champs plain and simple . . .

As much as it pains me to say this . . . I hope OSU blows Florida outta the friggin' water.

it has happened before. why not this time?

2003 usc and lsu. lsu won the bcs title game, but usc was ranked #1 in the ap poll. usc claimed co-champion status.

pre-bcs it happened a good bit. 1997 and 1991 being two of the more recent occurances.

Florida's schedule has been pure hell.  They've beaten Tennessee ([:@]), LSU, Georgia, and Arkansas.  Yeah, they lost to Auburn, but that was a so-so call.  It could have gone either way, and Auburn is a very good team.  Despite their record, Georgia is a good team, too.  Week in and week out, playing in the SEC is brutal.  South Carolina almost beat them, but they almost beat other teams by a small point margin.  It's a tough league with more quality teams than any other conference.  Florida earned it.

Michigan has played a cupcake schedule, beating an overrated Wisconsin team.  Oh, wait.  They demolished Notre Dame, who was blown out of the water by USC, who, in turn, had their butts handed to them by a pitiful UCLA team.  Almost any team from the SEC would go unbeaten with a Big-10 schedule.  It's quite easy.

Florida may not win, but they sure as heck deserve it over Michigan.

My bf has always been an OSU fan and likes all the Ohio teams... even the awful Browns.  However, he went to Florida so he a HUGE fan of them.  This will be a very exciting game for him.

He constantly bitched about Michigan having a loss and not deserving of the championship game.

I want to say.... AMEN!  and - PREACH IT! lol

My opinion, Florida deserves the chance... Michigan already HAD the chance and failed.  Why go for a repeat?

Does everyone like the BCS?  Or would you rather see a playoff situation instead?

yes and yes. i dont like the bcs per se, but i do like bowl season. something about it is more exciting than watching a playoff series.

however, i think a playoff situation would be more fair for determining which team should be considered #1.

I think a playoff system would better serve all teams.  There would be less arguing and, as Bradley said, fairness to all teams.

This is true - we LOVE bowl season but it's getting old having the same arguement about who deserves to be #1 & #2.  Playoffs would be great but I doubt we'll ever see it, no matter how much complaining is done.

I think a playoff type system would be great, but that will just shift the argument to "who makes the playoff cut" and to have a playoff with all teams would simply take far too long.

divisions 1-AA, 2, and 3 all have a playoff system. i dont remember hearing controversy over who gets into the playoffs.

i think some of the smaller conferences would be more in favor of play offs than say the big ten, sec, etc. it would give some of the unbeaten teams (like boise state) in say the mac or the wac to show that they are worthy of being national champs.

I'd love a playoff system, but I'm sure others would be tired of an SEC team winning every year. [;)

All jokes aside, I wish we did have that.  I don't know how they would determine who got in and who didn't, but there will always be arguing about who's better.  It's impossible to please everyone.
