    Games Your Dogs Play

Well, as most dogs, my girls love to play games.  We have a few original ones though.

Carley (beagle) loves fetch.  She also enjoys creeping up and pouncing on people.  If you act like you are going to pounce on her, she'll get you first.  We also play chase (I'm the one getting chased though) I'll hide behind the cabinets and she'll chase me around them, while baying.  lol.  I think she enjoys scaring people the most though. [8|]

Casey (pointer) prefers tug-o-war, being chased, and of course squeak-offs.  We each get a squeaky toy and see who can squeak it faster/louder.  If I'm winning she'll take the toy I have and I get hers.  She also LOVES bubbles.  But they're the occasional treat.

Anyways, what are your dogs favorite games?

We can't play many games inside because we live in a small apartment with creaky floors.   My downstairs neighbour would not be happy if I ran around.   But when we go out I throw a stick into the water right at the shore and Louise "rescues" it before a wave comes.   She's very concerned about the stick and just pulls it up to the safety of dry sand and leaves it.   She likes tug-o-war and if she has a really good toy or treat, she'll run around like a rabbit while I chase her.   With other dogs, she's pretty evenly divided between wrestling and chasing, although she has learned some very sneaky wrestling  moves from some of her friends and enjoys chewing on soft, floppy ears.  She also likes to 'eat' air we blow on her nose and "find Kevin" (my husband) is always a favourite.

Brown loves to fetch, and he also loves tug-o-war. Grey tries to fetch, and he tries his heart out, but sometimes he forgets to bring back what I throw lol. He does like to catch the 100 random toys I throw at him, though. Grey also loooooooooooves chase. Brett runs around the house with a 100-lb dog on his tail, and it's not uncommon to see Grey fly across the living room, jumping over furniture just to catch Brett.

Dodger loves to bring things to me (with or without me asking for them!)[:D]

He is pretty much up for anything - catching bubbles or splashes, hide-and-seek, find it (food) - he was never into fetching or tugging outdoors until we took up agility.  Now his frisbee is his best toy!  Oh that's aside from playing with HIS kitty cat (he loves to groom her!)

Lizzie doesnt like to play alot.

She basically likes to chase her tail and herd, but since herding isnt allowed she basically just chases her tail. She also likes to run top speed in the house, going under or over everything in her path (shes our future agility star!) but that usually ends when she runs into the table or hits her head on a chair leg! I guess she still has some puppy clumbsiness

Jetta likes to fetch and play tug of war too. She also plays soccer ( we kick a ball at her and she blocks it like a goalie.) We also wrestle and play tag. Jetta would play games all day if she could.[:)]

Gracie's favorite play/game aside from "Pretend I'm a deer crashing through the woods, sailing over any obstacle in my way, like I'm being chased by a lion"... is the laser pointer.  Yeah, yeah - "she's going to get OCD" blah blah.  Whatever - she loves it and knows the sound the metal keyring makes against the metal tube and will come flying if she hears the slightest clink of that metal.

MY favorite game with her is hiding under the blankets and she digs me out with her nose - it gets her little nub flying!!

Whats OCD? The pregnant bitch we fostered a while back went absolutely nutso when she saw that little red dot! She would chase it forever and growl and bark and try to eat it. Is OCD anything serious? You just reminded me of that lovely game and I would LOVE to see if Lizzie likes it also

Cassidy is obsessed with playing fetch --with anything, but her favorites are ball and rope toy.....she chomps her sticks in two and also likes frisbees too. She likes to chase Mirelle around outside, and wrestle with her too. Swimming is another thing, and she thinks chasing the birds is  game, all those sparrows outside. I joke and say chasing those birds is her hobby[:D] She enjoys herding the cattle, she is learning that, and she liked to do agility too. Those are all her 'games' [:)]

Mirelle likes to chase toys and  her tail, and the cats, and Cassidy, and any dog, etc, etc [:D] lol She plays fetch pretty good now, and likes to zoom around the house every once in a while, going crazy!

    Whats OCD?

Stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.  There's a belief among some folks (and experience in some dogs) that the dogs become so obsessed with the light that they lose focus on anything else and become emotionally disturbed by their fixation and inability to settle back into normal behavior when the toy is put away.  I'm sure someone else can explain better - stories of dog running into parked cars or otherwise injuring themselves because they become too fixated on something.  For whatever reason the laser pointer seems to be a hot button for some.  Personally, my dog is fine.

I think Loki may have that problem! He's completely obsessed with laser pointers. He flips out as soon as you turn it on and will follow it for hours. Once you turn it off, he looks for it for a long time.

Xerx loves to chase.  His favorite thing in the world though, is hunting squirrels and chipmunks.  It's a game to him and I'll help point him in the right direction.  His next favorite game is running alongside me.  And he'll "rescue" me from under the blanket.  He loves to be chased, not by me but by other dogs...since none of them can catch him.  He played chase with a retired greyhound and since she was faster, he'd wait until she was right on his tail and he'd cut back 180 degrees...so she never caught him either.  He'll play fetch, but gets bored after two throws.

My no-no-bad-dog Ralphie loves to make other dogs mad so they chase him, and the madder they are the more fun it is. He's also started dropping my socks and underwear in the toilet when he's home alone. what a prince [&:]

I am sure this is terribly frustrating to you, but I am cracking up laughing!  I find this absolutely hilarious!!! Sorry! [sm=rofl.gif]  Have you considered closing the toilet seat?

Wrigley's favorite games are "find mommy" or "find daddy"  We play hide and seek with treats and take turns hiding and then he finds us and gets a treat.  We also play "find cubby" I make him lay down in one room, hide a toy and then ask him to come and find it.  I love these games too!  I love to see the look on his face when he is searching out his hidden toy.  He also likes to fetch his toys inside the house, but he hates to fetch outside (too much other stuff to do).

Bobbing for ice cubes! She loves when i throw ice cubes in her bowl, her entire face goes in the water. She then proceeds to blows bubbles and chases the ice around and around in her dish. She looks so dissappointed whenever they finally melt.

Fetch games: With just about anything balls, ropes, her squeeky toy etc.. but her absolute favourite to run after is her soft frisbee.

Anything at all to do with the hose! She loves to mouth at it, then chase the spray like a mad dog.[:)]

    Tail Chaser Extraordinaire!
