    Moving thread

Ok so I know that Glenda is planning a move in the next two months and so am I.  We had put an offer on a HUD home and after the inspection yesterday, well let's just say we backed out before the inspection guy even left the property!!  We looked at two others and we loved one, so put in an offer, we'll know today.  We close on our existing house on the 28th of April and have 14 days to move out.

    So anyone else moving?

    Congrats on your move!!!! [:D]

Glad someone brought this up, its been weighing on my mind since I found out.

Im moving to London in the July, new job calls for relocation!! Not as pleased about it as you are about your move though!!

I am going to have to move into a tiny 1 bed apartement thats all I can afford and at over £1,000 per month in rent its more than enough to pay. And this is my dilema what do I do with Simba in a 5th floor apartement with me at work from 8am until 6pm???

Where I live now in Manchester UK me and my boyfriend own our home and he is going to stay in Manchester as his work is there, as it stands at the moment I work days he works nights so there is always someone there for Simba.

Now I'm leaving, Simba is gonna be alone for a big portion of either the day or night which is no life for a young ;puppy, and a change of job for either of us is just not an option at the moment.

I just wanted to share what im going through, I know I have only had Simba for a couple of months but I dont wanna give him up I cant imagine life without his little Chow smile [:(]

Have looked into somekind of puppy daycare but this doesnt exsist in London the only thing I have found are dog walkers and they charge anything upto and over £50 per hour.

I am going to have to make a descision before the end of June thats when I move, would it be fair to take him with me????

    Im so sad [sm=cry.gif]

    My baby boy Simba

Moving is a pain - flat out. My SO & I bought a house a couple of years ago. We looked at probably 30-50 houses over a year period. We had a lot of offers fall through, and paid for inspections on two other houses before we found "the house."

The good part about it taking a long time was that we just kept saving up more and more money for our down payment. Once it's all done and over with, it's worth it. Good luck and keep your chin up!

Sarahlou, how old will Simba be when you have to move?  And if he's going to be in the same boat no matter who he stays with, take him with you.  :D  If he's over 8 months old, he should be ok for the day.  It's not ideal but he'll survive.  Will your move be permanent or temporary?  Could you maybe afford to have someone come to let him out twice a week or something?  Or maybe there will be a teenager that will let him out once a day for you for less?  But then again, if your house in Manchester has a fenced yard where Simba can go out a doggie door when no one is home, that might be better for him in the long run....

I wish you luck though!  I don't know what I'd do if I was faced with such a decision...

I signed the papers this past weekend  to sell my house. The papers state the close will be no later than April 25th, but since there are no inspections, etc. it may be done sooner. I will have 3 months from that time (while I pay rent here) to find another house.

I'm excited to get out of here, but I'm not looking forward to going through all the looking and inspections, etc. again.

I am also concerned about how Boss is going to react. He didn't do so hot after the last move. He chewed up my new furniture, shoes, clothes, whatever he could get his teeth on and had to go back to being crated for a while. Maybe it will be better this time since he won't be the only dog though.

He's already sensing something's up because I have started to pack some stuff up and throwing things out, so I'm going to try not to make any other major changes and try to keep things as normal as possible. I'm already starting to talk to him excitedly about a new house.

Gracie pretty well just goes with the flow, but Boss is very dependent on routine. He likes to get up at the same time every day, go to bed same time, likes the furniture to stay in the same spot, his food to be kept in the same spot, etc. We've only been here a year in May, so this may be prove to be interesting.

Trish?  TALK to him....tell him about the exciting new houses you are looking at and how GREAT its gonna be.  That seems to help my crew.

My family and I are moving to Germany in July.

Glenda, I have started talking to him about it. I keep telling him about all the good things any new house we find is going to have. I'm playing up the fact that any house I find is going to have a nicer basement for him to play in. He loves my basement here but I won't let him go down there without me since they old owners left 4 dead washers and dryers down there and some other stuff.

He will run from wherever he is at when he hears me open the basement door just so he can go down there, so I'm going to make sure I get a basement he can go in. Hoping to find one with a nice family room downstairs so I can keep their crates down there. Both of their crates are the 42 inch ones and they are both in my computer room now taking up half the room.

We're moving back to Louisiana in May or June...it's looking more like May at the moment, but I really don't know for sure. Brett has to come back to LA in two weeks to finish up some job stuff, and once the semester ends, I'm free to leave. I can do the rest of my thesis revisions through email and just drive back to Starkville when I have to defend it and take care of a few loose ends.

Poor Charlie will hate the move. When he's out of his element, he stops eating and fills up with gas. So I'll have to pump him with antibiotics while he and Deuce are boarded at the kennels. Deuce won't like any of this either. He's a walking nervous breakdown, and this may just send him over the edge.

I *think* (crossing fingers, knocking on wood and being cautiously optimistic) that we might have found the house!  They are totally redoing the house inside and out....it's a really nice bi-level.....on 5 acres with the back being totallty wooded with jack pines....I like it...DH thinks it's a bit small, but I think it will work fine.  Oh, and it does have an attached 2 car garage, which is a big plus after not having one AND a nice big DRY shed.  And, even better, it'll be READY mid-late May so it works out perfectly time wise for us.
    • Gold Top Dog
I hope it works out. Sounds like it will be nice.. ahh.. 5 acres! I wish I could get out of the city, but with my eyes now I can't, unless I could teach Boss to drive[:D]

Good wishes for the right house for you!

Glenda, that's great!  We'll keep fingers and paws crossed for you.

If we move to that house, will have to get Annes secret blend of natural stuff tho.....I'm thinking all that jack pine studded land is gonna be ripe for ticks and I don't want to be using Frontline extensively...would rather use something without all the chemicals....

We put an offer on another house this past Thurs and so far it's a go.  About 3/4 of an acre with a vacant lot next door so we'll have some room to play.  Hoping it's all worked out by the time we leave for Seattle next weekend.

Glenda, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the house works.

Trishanne, I don't like the looking, inspections and all that either.  Bleh... the house we've put the offer on was our 30+ house we looked at in the last 6 months and our FOURTH offer.  Our poor real estate agent....  [8|]

Nope, not moving here!  LOL!  I have been in the same house, almost 10 years now.
