    Nightmare dream thread..

What was the last or worst nightmare that you had that woke you up in a cold sweat.here are a couple of recent ones i had..(i write them in a dream journal)

A few months back i dreamt i was with my wife,it was late at night, and we were walking through the wharehouse i used to work at...It was dark, and empty, and deserted but for us...We turned the corner, and i saw a slumped figure standing about 50 feet away...as it turned slowly toward us,we saw that it was the possesed Reagan and she was grinning and started to come toward us..I woke up at this point, and my boy Kovu(the black dog)was staring directly into my eyes...i was FREAKED out...i must have been stirring in my sleep and he was watching me..

the last one i had i was with my trainer delivering mail, and she gave me a certified letter that had to be signed for.We pulled up to an old victorian era house that was about 3 stories tall...i went in and it was a rooming house for older men...I walked past the empty desk, and found 3 guys working on a furnace.I asked them where the guy was i was looking for(for a signature)and they thumbed back past the desk and upstairs..3rd floor..I proceeded up,but there were no stairs,to get up,you had to go around like a multi level parking garage..I got ot the top floor, and there were three old guys on the floor playing dominoes.I went past, looking at the door numbers and couldnt find the one i was looking for..I then went back and asked the old guys, and they just gave me a strange wary look I started back down, and heard a blood chilling womans scream. It was the scream of someone dieing an evil death. Then a group of old men went running like hell past me down stairs...The scream cut off suddenly, and in that instant,i knew something evil(the man i was looking for)was comming out to see me...thats when i woke up..

ok...those are my last biggies...what about yours?

I didn't wake up in a cold sweat, but I woke up freaking out the past two nights in a row from nightmares about these darn lobster roaches the my boyfriend is keeping to feed his geckoes. I keep dreaming that they're getting out of their container and crawling ALL OVER MY BASEMENT FLOOR, my stairs and my walls. And then I step on them as I run from them and I get their gooey kidney bean type insides ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF MY BARE FEET. And then I wake up all grossed out.

I almost always forget my dreams almost as soon as I wake up. But the ones I can really think of that wake me up in the middle of the night are thoes dream were someone special in my life dies.

The last one I can think of my sister died in my dream. When I woke up I called her first thing in the morning to see if she was alright. She just thought I was being crazy but I felt so much better that it wasn't real.

I usually forget my dreams right away too, but recently I've been waking up in the middle of the night in a panic. I'm not sure whether or not this has been occurring since before or after daylight savings, but i'd like to be able to blame that for it. At least if that is the reason, perhaps there is hope that when the clocks switch back again, it'll stop.

I'm going to cut and pasteone from my blog but these are a couple of my interesting dreams....(http://www.edster1968.blogspot.com is my blog if you want to read anything else- shameless self promoting, I know) The second link is a long dream/vision so I won't  C & P here.http://edster1968.blogspot.com/2004/07/what-are-dreams-are-they-real.html

It happened again Well again last night I had one of my night s. As usual I remember it very well. Night s are horrible because of the paralysis that occurs in the waking moments. This paralysis, whether real or perceived is a torment in and of itself.

The "dream" started off in a normal dream manner. I was in a house, staying over for the night. Of course it was me surrounded by strangers or should I say people that I had just met. (Strangely most of my night s include me with people I'm not familiar with-it's a theme and while I'm in the dream I know what is going on but I feel helpless to stop it.) The layout of the house is similar to the house that I grew up in, yet different in the details. There's another Pharaoh Hound and I'm in the foyer leaning over the staircase to the downstairs, so I can get a good look at the dog-that's when I feel the floor start to lean and something is slowly pressing against me as if to push me down the stairs. I panic for a second and then leave the room, without much of an incident.

After a meal we all settle down and are talking about the "strange presence" that we all feel. It's as if the air is electrified. I decide to snap a few digital pictures to see if I can see any "orbs" or other mysterious things in the room. I begin to take a few pictures and instead of seeing the "orbs" or lights on the digital screen, they appear around the room in real-time. At this point the air is charged with electricity and seems to le. The hair on my arms, legs and head feels as if it's sticking straight up. Little lights are circling the room whipping themselves into a frenzy. And I say to the "entity" or "entities" "You have my permission to leave now."

I woke myself up by saying that actually out loud. And when I woke up the hair on my body was still on end. My heart was beating quite fast and I could not move. I felt as if someone was there in the room with me, but I couldn't look about. The dog was still lying on my leg and the cat was sleeping peacefully next to my pillow. They weren't concerned, nor were they awake. So why was I paranoid? Why couldn't I move? Was someone there?

After being "paralyzed" for about 15 minutes, I must have fallen back to sleep. All I could think about was the feeling of being watched and the fact that I couldn't move.

    So yes, it happened again.

I don't usually get too scared from my dreams, mainly because I'm just used to them by now.  I would say about half the dreams I remember are nightmares and a large percentage of those involve my own death or a death of someone I'm close to, often an animal.  I have had countless dreams involving the death of my rats...usually I'm pretty shaken when I wake up and the uneasy feeling will stay with me throughout the day.

I had one interesting dream that involved me and a one-legged pirate playing "pirate" (like little kids do with fake swords n things) around my house, when all of a sudden his weapons turned real and he started trying to kill me.  I started panicking and screaming at him to stop and that I didn't want to play anymore, and he just wouldn't let up.  He was chasing me around and all of a sudden I just stopped, turned around, and we started running straight for each other....I leapt at him and the instant before we collided we suddenly became pitbulls and locked together in a massive dogfight.  It was really pretty graphic, and well, to say the least it ended with us having ripped each others' throats out and lying bloody and dead on the floor.  The last thing I remember from that dream is a far away shot of my driveway ("shot" with the "camera" a ways down the street looking back at my driveway)...it was an eerie night scene illuminated by one yellow street light showing my mom dragging our dead canine bodies out to the street next to our trash cans.

I had one dream where my house was invaded with these bizaarre zombie people who were just sort of loafing around that I needed to kill, and the only way to do that was by cutting them up with a saw because they never really "died".  So I remember being in my parents' room and there were these weird zombies everywhere all of a sudden Cairo was there, but it wasn't actually Cairo, it was a zombie taking the form of Cairo in an effort to fool me...so all of a sudden I have this graphic scene of my trying to saw off Cairo's head with a hack saw while he's sitting there giving me the sad puppy eyes.  I remember that dream was one that really bugged me the whole day after...

I've had numerous rat nightmares that involve awful, disturbing deaths of my rats and other rats I've never seen before.  For some reason rats are the most common animal to come to harm in my dreams, I think because they're so short-lived, so the prospect of them dying is much more frequent than when owning another animal.  I had one dream I totally forgot when I woke up until I looked at my rat cage and saw my white rats...I got an instant flashback image of a dead bloody white rat that had been eaten from the inside in my head.  I've had dreams where I suddenly find myself in a room of cages filled with rats - all moms and babies, and they're all dying and I'm running from cage to cage trying to grab them and save them, but they're all dying one by one and I can't do anything to save them.

One night one of my heart rats started dying...just "running out of batteries" almost is what it seemed like, so I stayed up with her as late as I could (I was young and it was a school night), but I put her in a box on my pillow next to my head and stroked her until I finally fell asleep.  I dreamed that night of seeing my door being slowly pushed open and an undead, gory version of my rat slowly dragging herself into my room towards my bed.  I woke up in the morning and she was dead in the box...needless to say I cried a LOT that day....

One of my more recent and immensley interesting dreams didn't even include me at all.  The night before the dream I had been talking to my rat breeder friend about a rat from her lines that had fallen into the wrong hands and was being abused, and we were both upset about this.  That night I had the following dream (lets see if I can remember this all the way).  The beginning's a little vague, but it consists of a man being chased by some dark, scary figure (I think it's a man but it's all shadowy and hard to see) in an old train station.  They're running all over the place, this one guy trying to kill the other, when all of a sudden they stumble outside into the night and find themselves amongst other figures, all shadowy and dark.  They stop and there is this godawful creepy scene.... you see a dark, dark forest (this is a night scene) with a full moon above it, and train tracks disappearing into the trees.  On the tracks slowly floating towards the station is an undead little girl, followed by a long single file progression undead animals...all glowing an eerie blue.  Slowly these animals and the little girl float closer and closer until they get to the train station, and when they do, the little girl goes up to the shadow figure from the beginning of the dream and slowly wraps her hands around his neck.  Behind her you can see the animals each hunting down their own shadowfigure to dispatch in whatever way possible.  As the dream fades to blackness, a voiceover announcer is saying in a really creepy voice, "...and when that fear, called Yellowbelly, is inflicted upon the innocent...."   I woke up with the very distinct understanding that the dream was about the victims of child and animal abuse coming back to seek revenge on those that sent them to their unfair deaths.  I could NOT get that quote out of my head the entire day...and even though it doesn't make a whole lot of sense at first, it means a lot to me now...even now the term yellowbelly sends shivers up my spine.

I had this dream the other day. I dreamt that I was outside with the dogs when I saw a bear cub outside of the fence. I was trying to pet it and I realized if there was a bear cub then there would be a mama bear nearby. All of a sudden the mama bear came out and charged at the fence. I was screaming for the dogs to get inside. The bear came into the yard and was chasing after us. Shiloh tried to attack it but I called him off of it and we got into the house. The bear was trying to get in the house. I was getting scared because my son was going to be coming home from school and I didn't want the bear to get him. I could see the bear looking in the window. The bear was watching me. I decided to call the police to see if they could send someone to capture the bear. As usual in my dreams, the police take forever to answer the phone and they're totally useless. I finally get the police on the phone and I'm telling them there's a bear in my yard and if they can send someone to get it. They tell me they don't do that sort of thing and to call Walmart. They say that Walmart has people who can capture the bear. Now I'm panicking. I'm thinking about calling my coworker whose husband likes to hunt. He normally hunts deer and I'm thinking he'd go ape Sugar Honey Ice Tea over a bear. I woke up after that. That was one strange dream.

I always dream... I dream intensely and I dream a lot.. I usually remember them.  I dreamt recently about roaches taking over my house.  They crashed my car and craziness.

I always dream (well about once a week) about the house I grew up in.  I used to think it was haunted but nothing ever happened there I was just always always scared.  I dream constantly about being it in while its empty and some mean spirit telling me to get out but I cant.  I try so hard to find a way out while its getting more and more angry but I cant get out.  Then finally Im outside and walk back in.  Same thing over.  Ive had that same exact dream almost every week since I moved out, its weird...

I dreamt that Kayla was being attacked by a lion on a walk and I died trying to save her... but she died right after I did.

I have dreamt that I drowned in a pool at a party and I was dead at the bottom and could see everyone standing around the outside not doing anything about it a few times.

I have also been paralyzed.  Twice.  The first time I woke up from a dream and I couldnt move.  My eyes started watering and I started panicking, SERIOUSLY panicking and trying to scream but I couldnt DO anything... I was litterally unable to move but I was awake.  Finally I was able to move and I woke DH up and cried and told him about it.  He seemed to think I was sleeping while I *thought* I couldnt move.... but I KNOW I was awake.  It did happen again but it wasnt my whole body.  That first time tho...  I dont have words for how frightening it was.

I'm not a hundred per cent sure, but I've heard that this paralysis is entirely real and I believe it happens to anyone when they wake up during a certain part of their deep sleep pattern. There are a lot of stories about people feeling that something was sitting on their chest and they couldn't move. That's the same thing.

I have dreams that are more unsettling than waking me up in a cold sweat. Last week I dreamt my boyfriend died and I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him. Another time I dreamt my nanna, who's dead, was preparing her own funeral and decaying in front of our eyes. She was possessed and I was the only one that seemed to notice. I desperately wanted them to bury her, but they wouldn't because she was still walking around and talking. I've had dreams in which I've died, as well.

Has anyone else ever died in their dreams?

I have had the "chased by a bear dream"and hidden in my old house...

I have also dreamed of my own death..i remember one i had YEARS ago..

I was dead, and at my old house..it was a very grey day.i couldnt go inside,so was hanging out in the yard,,,istarted to get an evil feeling, and looked down to see my legs had turned into goat legs, and i started to un around on them, and then fly..next i was walking down the road(on my own legs)and walked up to another big,old house on a hill.next to it was a cemetary surrounded by an old wrought iron fence.i again, couldnt got in,and a group of dead children walking in line led by an older woman, dressed in 1800's clothing, passed by me...I asked them a question and a couple of them started to cry.....

Another one that really made me think..

About 3 years ago i dreamt i was driving my old red chevy truck home from work dark and early in the morning...i was thinking of what would happen if i crashed and died..next to me appeared an old man, flowing white clothing, beard, and such and he ssaid to me"When it happens, you wont remember a thing"(meaning when i die,i wont remember how i died)Then he dissapeared, and i heard my kids criing(because they just found out i had died)

No big surprise....my bad dreams always involve snakes.  They don't get ON me, or even that close to me, but just seeing them, even is sleep  is enough to wake me up in a cold sweat and terrorized.....

The first time was realistic dreams wherein my mother was still alive. Later, realistic dreams of my first wife still being alive. What's frightening about it is the disorientation upon waking. Which one was reality?

These dreams disturbed me more than the one in which I saw my own death. That one was, believe it or not, peaceful. I was in my 80's and all alone. No one left to see me go but the attendants who take care of such things. So, I know my destiny. I will live about another 40 years, outliving nearly everyone and shall pass away almost unnoticed.

Any parent can tell you the most frightening dreams are those where something happens to your kids. No freaky supernatural or gooey monster can be more scary, because in the light of day those don't have any reality.

The ones concerning your kids are the most frightening because they can actually happen, and they stick with your for days sometimes, because of that.

Has anyone else ever died in their dreams?

All the time (see my above post for details)...my dreams are weird in that I tend to die and then my dreams continue on for a while without me, which, according to my H.S. Psychology teacher, isn't supposed to happen [;)

I just remembered another dream I had which is actually sort of funny...  It took place outdoors in some big open field area next to a large rocky slope.  Started out as a large scene with two armies lined up facing each other about to do battle.  Funny thing was, one army was my entire graduating class from High School, and the other army was the graduating class of a different school.  The battle was started when a girl I knew in my childhood (but lost touch with over the years) yelled something and the two armies surged toward each other, but it quickly became evident that my side was being completely slaughtered, so the small group of us who realized this turned tail and ran for the hills and found a small rock cave to hide in.  The people who had run and hid included me and a few other randomly selected individuals from my class, including one or two of my bf's friends.  We watched from the cave mouth in horror as the people we grew up with were all killed before our eyes.  After a while the opposing army notices us in the cave and starts charging up at us, so me and one of my boyfriend's friends find a little tunnel leading out the back of the cave that goes down to a body of water that then leads out to the open again and we run off.  We just keep running, trying to get as far away as possible, and finally find ourselves in a little town in the middle of nowhere (I could remember the name of the town when I woke up but as it was a couple years ago I've forgotten that now), where we spend some time milling about doing boring trivial things, meeting townspeople and the like, when all of a sudden I just die for some reason.  My death was very...unexpected and terribly uninteresting.  I think I died in my sleep or something.  They buried me in the middle of a field all alone and set up a boring gravestone.  Weird ending to that one.

I also recently had a dream in which I was a Shetland Sheepdog running loose in a town being chased by something big and scary.  I remember dodging under bushes and the branches getting stuck in my coat and tugging it and people's hands reaching down to grab at me and this feeling of panic and terror.  It felt a lot like how I've always imagined animal fear - no "thinking" at all, just confusion and the extreme urge to get away from everything that's coming after you.  I have no idea if those human hands trying to grab me where trying to help or not, but they were coming after me and I just had to get away from them.

I regularly die in my dreams.  I compete in triathalons and I love the water.  Anything that involves water, surfing, swimming, I am thrilled.
Dream 1.  I go out for a swim in the ocean. (Crystal clear blue water so I know I'm not here on the Texas coast.)  I get caught in something and am pulled under.  Everything goes dark, and then I see two men pulling my body out of the water.  I'm discolored, and my lips are blue.  They put me on a stretcher and cover me with a sheet. It's really creepy and I always wake up after being covered.
Dream 2.  I dive off a cliff and miss the water.  I see myself splattered on the rocks.  The creepy part of this is that this dream began after a vacation in Puerto Vallarta where I went cliff diving.  Even worse is that if I was given the chance to cliff dive again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
