i saw a video of some japanese guys basically doing the same thing to a psp the day before they were released in the US. not sure what these people get out of it though?

I do find it kinda funny... I thouhgt it was an old lady ar first then he turned around and I saw the beard. Guess if you have that kind of money to waste then go for it, do it for you 15 min of fame.

ditto! no way am i paying $600.

since the nintendo wii is going to be so inexpensive (comparatively), i think i almost have the wife talked into getting one after the first of the year.

Well....if you think about it, stand alone, a Hi-def DVD player goes for $600+. The PS3 is a Hi-def game system, hi-def DVD player, wireless internet access....lots of things. Not too bad on the price...but I still don't think I could spend that much money on one. I mean...that is over 1/2 of my digital camera!! [

all that is nice, but i really am just looking for a gaming system.

from what i have read about the wii, it is designed more for game play than for what else it will do. it doenst even mention if it will play dvd's. that is one drawback to it, i guess. it will connect wirelessly to your wireless router. this allows for downloading vintage games, messaging with other wii users, and (if you buy the opera browser) surfing the net. it does have usb ports, but no real mention of what can be connected to them.

Just a quick note but the Opera browser has been free for quite some time now

It's not compatible to this forum but sure is great for most other things

The Wii has been designed so almost anyone can use it easily and quickly. It's not high definition like the PS3 and not super duper graphics - it's more designed for fun and participation.

I got one today when they went on sale online... they were gone in two minutes!!! LOL

you are right. the article i read earlier said you had to buy it for the wii. just read another that states the opera browser comes with the wii.

i also saw that you can get opera for nintendo ds. but i could not find a place to download it.

wish firefox would be available for both systems.

edit: opera for ds will be available in the US in december. i think you may have to purchase it. maybe it is on a cartridge?

Opera is a free browser anyone can download any time and use instead of Internet Explorer. It was the first browser to use tabs.

I've been using it for over a year. I much prefer it to Firefox myself
