    Talk about a bummer....

ACK!!!   7 minutes left in the 3rd period and the cable company loses the feed?????

Caps vs. Panthers, Caps are up 2-1 and they lose the feed???  How do you lose a feed?  Isn't this the 21st century?  What happened to redundancy?  Holy crap it was a great game, probably still is but I'll never know it.  Chumps.  I hate my cable company.

    I hate my cable company.
I think that is a common feeling....I hate mine too and also have internet through them and I spend half my computer time just trying to get a signal strong enough to send a post or pm!!

    Sorry about missing the game![:@

Bummer...don't have that issue with the dish because at least sheeting rain is predictable lmao!

However....for next time Yahoo is showing the Caps Thursday game...via live interenet feed..

I watched the Wings play this way and it was pretty cool. Highly recommend it [;)] Of course if your 'net is "cable" too then that won't help ya. Cable does suck....don't see why anyone uses it these days!

Something kind of similar happened to me with the TV as well. In the middle of the Kentucky Derby, for heaven's sake! I couldn't believe it! We were watching NBC and the horses had all come around the far turn, and they lost connection or something! I missed the end of the race and didn't even know who had won until they were talking to the jockey afterward!  I never did get to see what had happened at the end of the race, because they continued on with the show like nothing had happened. So that was quite disappointing....it was Barabaro that won it of course, but I never got to see him win the race, and then you probably know what happened in the Preakness [:(] I will stop rambling now. Sorry you missed some of the game, I know the feeling [>:]

OMG that's the most famous race of famous races.  Dumb cable company!

On a side note, the cable feed from florida came back on with 2:39 left in the game and I got to see the Caps win 4-1.  So I only missed a few minutes...but boy was I mad.  I'm happy now though...yay!

You wanna talk inept? This regarding a network not cable or anything....

FOX....one time REFUSED to leave a friggin RAIN DELAY in baseball....they showed M*A*S*H...instead of the FRIGGIN'S STANLEY CUP FINALS GAME!!! Omg I was literally shredding napkins with my teeth I was so angry. It went on for like AN HOUR!! The baseball game was like in the 8th inning and it was NOT even close...omg....that's on my all time list of major major MAJOR flubs by networks. [:@][:@]

I have no problem with my cable service, never goes out, BUT I hate paying that stupid bill every month.
    • Gold Top Dog
LOL...lemme tell ya why I left cable, it's kind of a funny tale,

Everything was wonderful...then one day...it went out at about 1pm. No biggie...I waited...then it came back about 30 mins later. Didn't even call em...it happens you know?

Fast forward to the end of that week...it had happened EVERY SINGLE DAY around the same time. Man came out...no problems with box or hookup.

Week 2...same thing was happening. I called again...and ya know what they said?

"Sometimes this just happens...it could be because of someone's garage door opener and if they come home that time of day..."...WTH??? GARAGE DOOR OPENER? [sm=rotfl.gif]

lol...it was over then...bring on the dish. Sunday Ticket alone was worth it.

But prior to that I was very happy with cable for a very long time. The bill did go up a lot tho....but them's facts when it comes to anything these days.

We also have DirecTV.  We haven't had cable in about 5 years.  The 100% reason we have it, is for Sunday Ticket - which only DirecTV offers.  Since DH (and me too) would go into football withdrawl without being able to watch the Detroit Lions make fools of themselves every week we really don't have a choice.

It has never gone out for no reason.  The only time there is ever a problem is during a massive rainstorm or snow storm, but it is usually out for only a hour or so and has only happened about twice in the past year.  They do nickel and dime you alot though  - $5 for each receiver, $10 for HD, $$ for DVR, etc. plus in WI they tax services so you pay tax on everything.  Our bill is nuts, but that's only because we get the sports packages (baseball, basketball, hockey, etc.).  If we didn't, our base bill is $45 and really hasn't changed in a couple of years.

    [:D]

not really though. when we moved into our house, we tried to switch our cable from our apartment to where we live now. called charter, they didnt offer service in our area. said it wasnt worth their while. bear in mind there are 72 houses in our subdivision and 10 houses on the road leading into our subdivision. so 80+ houses wasnt worth their while?

after the last house was finished in our subdivision. they decided they needed to run cable into our neighborhood. tore up everyone's front yard to put cable in, when almost everyone who lives here has been on either dish or directv for 1.5-2 yrs.

who the hell makes these dumb a$$ decisions for charter?

We started getting DirecTV when our old apartment complex in Michigan only had their own cable (huge dishes right on the complex).  The complex was HUGE - literally 3000+ people lived there and was like a small city.  It was the worst cable ever.  It had literally 20 channels all of which were crap and it cost $50 a month!

DH took one look at the list of channels, realized they didn't even carry ESPN2 and we had the dish up that afternoon and we have had it ever since.

we tried to get directv in the apartment, but we were on the wrong side of the building (ie. we didnt face in the direction to get reception with the dish). many of the people in apartments on the other side of the building (and in the other buildings) had directv and dish.
